I have yet to see a Cayman S pass a 911 on a track day, yet I see many a 911 pass the Cayman's. The Cayman S is a great car, but the 911 is better. If you never owned a 911 you probably wouldn't know what you were missing, but the Cayman is short on power and always will be for marketing purposes (at least from Porsche AG- bring on the Farnbacher-Loles Cayman GTR!)

It's interesting that you would say that Doc. I would expect that the lighter, more agile Cayman would post quicker lap times than a 997 Carrera. Where are the Caymans being passed? On the straights?

If my memory serves me correctly, isn't the Cayman supposed to be a little faster around the 'Ring than a Carrera? Just_me?

But yes, other than that and obvious agility of the Cayman touted by Porsche, I do feel that the 911 remains the (slightly) better car. I have a feeling it's just that bit more, ahem, er... planted?

Cayman hasnt been tested around Nordschleife yet, only on Hockenheim

Carrera S - 1.14,3 min
Boxster S - 1.16.2 min
