Re: Mercedes Benz CLS63/////AMG or BMW ///M6 ?????

I know..that the engine does all that..ofcourse it not on the edge like a F1 engine.. realibility is a factor to.. so it couldnt..
but compared to the AMG engine its more on the edge and sharp.. nothing wrong with that like i said before..

PS
Can someone explain to me why there is a advantage of having low displacement? it cant be fuel efficency the M5 is thirsty is hell..
so whats the deal?? other than its a harder to make..and gives Fans somethig to brag about?

This doesn't make any sense. The BMW has more cylinders too and yet doesn't make more power. In fact it makes a lot less torque.

Less displacement, less torque.

Anyway, I dont know if any of you guys tried the new M5. I was surprised how easily the M5 pulled on 7th gear when you drove slow as 50km/h. I thought it would take time for the car to accelerate but it gain speed so quickly. The car is incredible flexible despite its weight. I wished I had 500 nm in my car

I'm still trying to figure out what puts the V10 on a "higher plane" from the AMG V8.

That would be nice. I'm surprised none of the German magazines have compared and disected these engines side by side yet.

To me on paper they're more or less equal once you get past the cylinder count and displacement.

I guess here is a cylinder vs. displacement argument.
This official restricted "wimped" power specs aren't good for comparing the engines.

The old 4 litre V8 400 HP from the e39 M5/Z8 was squiezzed to 500 HP by some tuners without forced induction or displacement modifications (boring).

The S70/2 was suposed to develope ~514 HP, but it achieved ~627 HP in the F1, 680 in the F1 LM, and even went beyond 700 HP in its S70/3 evolution.
This from just 6064 cc displacement.

The S85 V10 has about ~540 HP deristricted.
Exhausts (with software) alone can add ~90 HP, and with higher air intakes and ECU tweaks passing the 600 HP barrier won't be a problem.

Actually the previous M5/Z8 V8 was a 5-liter.
