Maranello vs. Zuffenhausen: Part I

Maranello vs. Zuffenhausen: Part I

The two most illustrious sports car companies in the world go head to head in the battle of these scalpel-sharp apex predators.(Gosh - isn't that a fabulous metaphor?) High revving, lightweight supercars that couldn't be more different in their DNA; both cars have an insatiable appetite for accelerating, cornering and braking. Italian passion vs German precision. More clichéd contests than this are hard to come by...

So add in your options, pick your colour and vote for the most worthy king of cornering - money isn't an object:

The Ferrari F430

The Porsche 911 GT3

Please discuss your choice and please, as a rule, be as objective and honest as possible without resorting to mockery and derision. If you don't like the looks for instance, please say so but without using terms like POS, tarted up, nausea inducing, trash can. Vomit smilies expressly disallowed - your post will be deleted.

Re: Maranello vs. Zuffenhausen: Part I

This is so hard choice. I dont know but I feel that F430 is more comfortable than GT3 and a better choice for everyday driving. F430 Stradale seem the be a better opponent to GT3.

Yes and no my knowledgeable Swedish counterpart... to me the GT3 is packed with enough luxury to compete head to head with the F430. The purists' contest would be the ultra track oriented Challenge Stradale vs. GT3 RS. The poll is well balanced enough.

But admit it - this is a cool theme no?

I'll bet the marketing departments of Porsche and Ferrari will be watching these two threads closely! Ha ha! As if...

Difficult decision here Martinbo - I love the Porsche and overall prefer it's looks. But everybody who drives the F430 says it's just about the most perfect drivers car ever.....

.....based on that, I would probably choose the Ferrari.

...God, can't I have both?

The eternal battle... Personally, I think the Porsche looks better. You can tell that this is a 911, all the history is there. You can't tell as much with the F430 I think. Overall though, I've always been a Porsche guy, instead of Ferrari, since I was a young kid. So Porsche for me.

Probably, Porsche... I mean for sure Porsche.

Re: Maranello vs. Zuffenhausen: Part I

This is a tough one. I like the F430 and it's supposed to be very good indeed but I'm hardly enamoured with its looks, not that I'd call it ugly or anything though.
With the GT3 it's the front that I have a problem with. I feel there's something amiss with this particular variant of the 997 that I just can't quite put my finger on. I expect to hear great reviews as soon as the journalists get their hands on it, but even so I think I'll have to vote for the Ferrari.

Eish! Again an almost impossible prospect. Manettino is a massive advantage in track work for those less than gifted. And that Ferrari will pull the skirts like the GT3 can only hope too...

But in the end, I voted for the GT3 with full manual transmission, the promise of me, a mere mortal being in complete control of such a machine is too enticing for words.

I agree that perhaps the front end on the GT3 is a little too busy? I expect that both will be sensational to drive. Problem is, I'll never know. :sniff.
