Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury

I'd probably have to have the Turbo up here where I'm going to school since it gets cold and rains a lot (AWD). If I was back home in Los Angeles, I'd have to consider the GT3 as well. I'd probably have to drive both first to come to my decision, but most likely I'd go with the GT3 with all that alcantara, Carrera GT seats, and better body styling. I'll go with that as a vote assuming ideal conditions.

Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury

I absolutely adore the GT3. It's just an incredible looking, and performing car. Like I said in a previous thread, this car is everything that Porsche stands for. It is Porsche. Sure, it's very track-biased, with firm suspension and little luxuries, but it's got way too many positives to pass it off.

The Turbo doesn't excite me as much as the GT3. Sure, it's no doubt one of the best cars in the world, but it lacks that certain something that the GT3 has.

The CLK63 AMG is a bonafide beast, but I'm not a fan of the girlish styling of the CLK, and to be honest, I just don't think it would be as rewarding as the GT3.

The CLS63 AMG? Much the same as the CLK, but with better styling.

Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury

On the contrary Top Secret, I think the 997 Turbo will be more exciting to drive in regular conditions vs the GT3 which will require one to work much harder to extract a similar adrenalin rush. Yes, the GT3 is super exciting but the 911 Turbo will probably pick up the mantle of it's forebear as the best all-round car in the world.

I wouldn't even hesitate; 911 Turbo for me please...

Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury

I want the ultimate driving experience and that can only be offered from Porsche. I know Gt3 is more hardcore than the Turbo. Gt3 would be my choice if it was my second car but since its only one car I feel the Turbo is more allround and better suited for daily-use.

Therefore, the mighty 997 TT gets my vote.

Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury

I surely don't doubt that the 911 Turbo would, ultimately, a better all-round car than the GT3. But critically, the Turbo missed that certain something, that being, as some may call it, the "X-Factor". It's hard to explain, but surely, you would know when you've got it. And for me, the Turbo lacks it - it doesn't garner the same reaction from me as it did with the GT3. The GT3 honestly took my breath away - it was just magical; the design, the interior, that engine - everything about it left me in awe.

The Turbo on the other hand, sure, big power, advanced technology, but the styling isn't that well put together on, say, the 996 911 Turbo, or heck, even the 993 911 Turbo. It lacks the drama of what the Turbo is supposed to be all about.

Funny thing that, personal tastes... Whilst I may go gaga over a GT3 - particularly a GT3 RS - a 911 Turbo reduces me to the verge hysteria. There's something so complete, so purposefully crushing about it that I'd never hesitate. The GT3 is, primarily, a working driver's Porsche and one that is eminently suited to track work. Make no mistake, I love it nearly as much as any other 911 but I'm always left doubtful as to how much work it'll really be. Hey, I love driving and I'm always up for a bit of hooning about and hoon about in a GT3 I shall indeed.

But as some car magazine said something like, "The 911 Turbo - the car for all seasons and a car for all reasons." Yup that's what I would say too...

Erm, ja ok, you have your 309 kW of "powweeerrrrrrr" and 405 Nm and I'll stick with that rubbish turbo boosted 353 kW and 620 Nm.
