| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury Not really a fair comparo IMO. The new AMG models as wonderful as they may be, are still GT cars compared to the Porsches which are sports cars, and hard core in the case of the GT3. Of the bunch I'll take the 911 Turbo first and foremost and then a CLS63 AMG for my luxury ride that still has brutal power. M |

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury Merc, its not about being fair. Either you want the ultimate driving experience or you want luxury and comfort. This poll isnt about which car is the best. Its a popular contest. The most popular car in this poll will win. |

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury Yo Merc1, it's not about the cars as direct competitors, it's more about wishlist kinda stuff. Picture it as a Christmas stocking request for the latest toys on the market... I reiterate: Quote:

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury I picked the turbo but it was a hard choice between the turbo and the GT3. I am going to go back and forth with them for a long time. I just love the Gt3 and its sheer power with a NA engine, but I also get excited about the turbo. ![]() |

You know, I don't get worked up about FI vs NA anymore. Naturally aspirated engines suck and forced induction engines blow. Both approaches are equally as special as the other despite their obvious and counteracting differences. Imagine though, Ferrari will have to produce a 462 kW 6 litre V12 engine that revs to 7600 rpm to come close to this little 353 kW 3.6 litre turbo 911's performance. ...and we haven't yet seen Turbo S or GT2 variants. | |

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury I'm really keen that AMG's new 6.3L V8 has found its way into more models. However, I was never really that keen on either the CLS or the CLK, AMG or not. I'll take the 911 Turbo, for sure. I'd probably never come to own one due to the impracticality, or the expense, but it's just that good that I'll vote for it anyway. It looks beastly, and probably goes pretty damn well, too. The sports car for the average man (who has lots of money). Probably the only Mercedes that could have had a hope of competing would be a now-hypothetical facelifted SL63 with 7G-Tronic, and forced induction if necessary, just to make it even more monstrous. (I second that the indiscriminate use of the term "supercar" cheapens it - I reckon it should only be top-range stuff - CGT, Enzo, Veyron, Macca F1, etc.; doubtful whether Vanquish, 599GTB or Murc get in, and certainly no less) |

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury The Porsche 911 Turbo and GT3 are both supercars in my book. The term is very broad but one should apply a whole host of criteria when judging whether a car be deemed a supercar, not just outright performance or engine location. |

| Re: New beasts - Sport vs Luxury GT3 for me... althought it was tough to decide over the Turbo... the CLS got some consideration as well. |
