BTW , this thread is so full of s**t and bias , whether it's the Motortrend test or the posts of some ignorant members here .

Re: Motor Trend: M5 VS CLS55 AMG (Part II)

All I know is that the M5 was only marginally faster than the CLS55 and I don't live at a race track so this is pointless. I already have an M5 so I'm a little biast in its favor but I love the CLS55. It's the best looking Mercedes on the market today!

I'm with Roberto, I'll take a 911 over either of these!!

Yep, that is rather funny and strange. The CLS55 sweeps faster resulting in higher skidpad numbers.(0.90g vs. 0.87g) It`s "defalt mode" numbers are also better.

Marginally better is correct! the CLS55 did quit well considering it has less hp
and a 5-speed tranny. I didn`t know you have an M5 Porsche Guy, congrats.

CLS has a lower center of gravity. M6 has better skidpads than M5 because it has lower center of gravity. Also tires is a big part when it comes to skidpad. This is nothing strange. But Im sure you knew this already.

M6 wasn`t in this test so asking for skidpad numbers wouldn`t be relevant.
In addition to a lower center of gravity the Airmatic suspension in the CLS
is design to counter body roll. That might have played a roll as well.
