BMW's now have folding rear headrests, but the C class doesn't, something MB pioneered? A little disappointing if you ask me.

I dont know about BMW 3-series but for my car (1-series) its optional but extremly cheap if you want it (30 Euro only).

We have this feature in our E-Class, but we never use it. I suspect that Mercedes figured out that most people leave their rear headrests up anyway, so why bother offering a foldable version?

Also, some people might forget to unfold them after having folded them resulting in possibly lethal injuries in the event of a car accident. So in the interests of safety, this may be a reason why they're permanently in a fold up position.

I just like playing with them...lol. Classic Mercedes-Benz sound when all 3 of them flap down within a few split seconds of each other. This feature should have never, even been taken out of the C-Class. Since I have a CLK I don't get the pleasure of playing with them too often.

It's a great idea and I often use them. Normally our E-Class is only used as one or two seater. So we don't use the rear headrest that often and normally they are turned down.

Re: AMS: Audi A4 2.0 TDI vs BMW 318d vs Mercedes C200 CDI

Merc ditched it because they (at least) noticed that a lot of Merc were driving WITH rear passengers WITHOUT rear headrests (because they were folded down), and that it was not good.

The S still has them because the headrests come on automatically, but the others won't because it needs to be adjusted by hand and few do so, so they stay down...

IMO, of course. And the fact that it costs less is also good for Merc...
