So unlike what is stated in other threads looks like the gap between the cars have gone up by a big margin. And what is worse is that the C63 has the worse ride now. I am sure C63 is an improvement over C55, looks like it is M3 that has really improved in leaps and bounds.
Totally agree with you. The M3 is now the more comfortable car than the C63, AND it handles significantly better than the previous E46 M3.

One reason why the C63 may have performed so poorly is because of traction issues, espeicially in slightly damp conditions. Even though it's suspension/chassis are improved, it has a LOT MORE TORQUE than the E92 M3 or previous C55. If the car was tested without a LSD, it may be very tricky to get the power down quickly when exiting a slow tight corner.

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

VX8R is a powerful and torque engine as well but probably not refined as the C63 but the car manage to do a good laptime as well, not far off the C63. This car surprised me, thats for sure.

PS what torque in the VX8R?

EDIT: 420hp/550 nm

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

I can't wait for a C63 vs M3 sedan test, the C63 did so well against the coupe which is lighter, lower center of gravity and with a manual and that scores big to car reviewers and despite all that it managed to be only half a star behind the M3 coupe. The sedan battle will be a closer call i guess.

Max star is 5 and the M3 got 5 out of 5. So you cant give the M3 a better verdict. Imagine if max stars were 7 stars, hihi
Jokes aside, the Vauxhall got 4 stars, "only" a half star behind C63 and one star behind M3. So its the Vauxhall that should get all the praise

Ps 4-door M3 Sedan is still a lighter car than C63. I doubt the difference between M3 4-door and M3 2-door will be huge, just slim in handling department.

I cant wait for a test between M3 DCT vs C63

Well i praised te VXR8 in my forst post in this thread, having 4 stars by EVO is good.

I know that the M3 sedan is still lighter than the C63 but it loses the advantage of lower center of gravity of the coupe so i expect it to be closer than coupe vs sedan.

And yes i also can't wait for both cars to get their much awaited new gearboxes

I think that you can not make that statement based only on a single test. That is wishful thinking. When AZ tested both cars at Hockenheim ther was a difference of only 0.9 secs between both cars.

That is the standard car. The one tested had a S/C-conversion putting the power figure at 540 hp.... that if something shows that the C63 is no push over when it comes to track exercises...

Granted the C63 was not equiped with the LSD I think it is a little to early to say what time it will manage att Bedford but that was not the key issue in it losing to the M3 here. That reason was, as this is Evo, that the M3 - in their opinion - is the more communicative, enjoyable, exploitable and plain and simple fun to drive of the two... that was what decided the outcome. As always Evo is looking for the ultimate drivers car not the fastest from A to B. If the latter is what you are after there is always the alternative to get an helicopter...
