Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

ITs further proof that no matter how good the chassis, frame and suspension are---weight is far more important, even with a much more powerful and torquey engine.

I fully agree.

The good surprise is the Vauxhall.
The bad surprise is the Merc.
The M3 did what it was expected to do, the best time.

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

"The new M3 sucks. The C63 hands its under-rods to it on a guilded AMG platter. The outgoing RS4 shows the M3 the how performance motoring should be done - and that's from an outgoing model to boot. The M3 is soft like squashy marshmallows - BMW have lost the plot..."

:Poof: [Sound of misguided preconceptions vaporising]

Ahem, sometimes I'm amazed at the level of conjecture posted about this car.

You don't think so??! It beat the Murcielago (damp as well) and a 997 in the dry. M3's were usually kind of scary to drive in the wet, so this is hugely impressive to me. It beat the RS4 in the dry...

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

Well, in that context it is a great time. Maybe the C63's time is'nt that bad, just that the M3's is really good, but I still think the Benz would have done a bit better should it have had the full sport package with LSD and even stiffer suspension. A second at least...

Hmm ,LSD would help..I´m sure of it..I really don´t get it why MB doesn´t equip their AMG models with LSD´s as standard options?IMO,car would have been much, much more fun to drive and it would give that extra control feel that BMW M models have..I´m not saying that current setup is bad..but its not hardcore as it should be IMO

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

All reviews say the suspension is stiffer in C63 AMG than in rs4/M3. If they made the C63 even more hardcore then suspension need to be even stiffer and then the comfort would be even worse, perhaps too stiff to be called a AMG.

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

Here is the times for the previous gen (in the dry):

1:29.80 - BMW M3 CS
1:30.11 - Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG

So unlike what is stated in other threads looks like the gap between the cars have gone up by a big margin. And what is worse is that the C63 has the worse ride now. I am sure C63 is an improvement over C55, looks like it is M3 that has really improved in leaps and bounds.
