Yup and they still love it more than this greatest hit by the other artist that is been trying for ever. Some times, your best isn't just good enough... may be next time .

Haha, I was kidding too. C63 is hot, no denying that. Dig up my posts when the C63 was revealed - I thought it was hot as hell - more than M3. Yes, I have become a bit jaded since then and think some of the front bumper stuff is a bit over the top.

Anyway I will be sending our friends over at AMG this. j/k

Have to remember they did not have the C63 on hand for direct comparison. Sometimes, a direct comparison is necessary. Case in point: When Evo first tested the S3, they weren't exactly thrilled by it. Gave it 3.5 stars, and noted the 130i and Golf R32 were more engaging to drive. Yet later in a comparo with the 130i, it matched the 4-star rating of the BMW and they had it ahead of the BMW (on paper).
Evo also noted in those first M3 reviews that Spain's smooth and dusty/sandy roads might have exacerbated the M3's slightly dead spot off center.
Yes, is very possible BMW changed the steering feedback; it would be foolish of them not to, if indeed this was a mechanical error. However, it's also possible that since the steering is keyed in with the electronics of the car (the system also controls suspension, if EDC-equipped, throttle response, and DSC intervention level), it might have taken Evo editors some time to find the better setting. I would also not be surprised if there is an adaptive element to the system, which takes time to adjust. Automatic transmissions with "fuzzy logic" that learn the driver's habits have been around for about a decade now.

Or rather, it's like finding a song that is (at first) not interesting or seemingly discordant, only later to reveal depths and nuances with each time you hear it. Some of the best songs never even see radio airplay, while there are catchy tunes that appeal to almost everyone on a surface level, but no further. Same can be said of some of Bangle's designs, really.

It wouldn't be an M3 otherwise. I read this article the other day and was surprised to find that aside from dying as the E92 and the E46, the M3 has actually been dead since 1994!

But your point about a "Honda" (I presume a Civic or Accord) taking out a RS4 is a poor example of what I'm referring to. Those cars clearly are lower performing cars in stock form compared to a RS4. If a Civic is able to beat a RS4, it must be either very modified, or there is a HUGE difference in driving ability. Nothing like comparing a C-AMG car to a M3 for people of comparable driving ability.

And yes, I like mentioning my "real life" track experiences because I've learned so much from them. I'm still a relative newbie at it, but now I'm able to see through the BS some fanboys have about their favourite brand or car and it's "performance" relative to other cars.
I'm just naming examples what can happen on a track. We all know a Porsche 911 handle better than a M3 but it doesnt mean a M3 cant take out a Porsche on a track.
As you said earlier some cars are easier to drive than others and all drivers are no Schumacher, although many think they are.

I'm kinda surprised that you needed tracktimes to realize something that I thought was obvious. You read to much on Internet and you listen too much on fanboys

Anyway, I have no idea why we are having this discussion. This is a thread about EVO magazine and their review on three cars and we should stick to that and not taking a detour to something else. I'm sure you agree on this

I think you are spot on, very well said. We have seen a few re-reviews now comming to the same conclusion that Evo did regarding the M3 and it's ability to grow over time.

Re: EVO: - M3 vs C63 AMG vs VX8R

Then again, this was completely predictable.

The new M3 has once again shown that its depth of ability had eluded even the best journalists on first acquaintances. It has always been a spectacularly well rounded machine that bridges the gap between sport-coupe and outright supercar. I have every expectation that the new M3, like its forebears that I have driven, will continue to provide a concentrated, high performance driving experience, the quality of which lies far beyond the car's price tag.
