If you want a true sportcar, defintly Cayman, but if you need four seats then Cayman is toasted Performance wise the 135i offer a lot for the money. I'm looking forward to the lighter 135Tii

dayum the front of the 1 series looks so butt ugly! I love how they gave the rear of the car a CSL-ish bootlid.

btw Andreas, has the 135tii been approved for production?

The 1-series coupé looks better every time you look at it...

Neither the 135i and S3 are people carriers either.

Compare to a Cayman they are, 4 people are doomed in a Cayman. I did not say the others are limosines so of course to a 5-series, they are doomed as well.
I dont see Porsche and BMW aiming for the same customers, there is the Z4 for others if they want a Cayman wannabe.

Re: Autocar: BMW 135i vs 350Z vs S3 vs Cayman

Quite frankly, I think the Audi TT 3.2 would have made a much better match for the other three in this comparison. And if it where here, it'd undoubtedly be my choice.

The S3 is more suited against the 135i hatch, is it not?

I dont know, I can see myself choosing between a S3 and a 135i Coupe. I cant see myself choosing between a 135i, TT and Cayman. If Im after a TT I dont need a big car or unnecessary place, I just want a roadster. So if I want a Roadster, its between Z4, TT and SLK.
Of course there are people cross shopping between a TT and a 1er Coupe but I dont think they are lots of them. To me its more natural to compare S3 to 1er.
Lets not forget that 135i doesnt exist as a Hatchback version, only the Coupe. 130i Hatchback exist though.
