Silly me, I had always thought there was a 135i hatch. Doh.

I see what you're saying though. Although, I still stand by my opinion that the TT 3.2 Coupe is better suited against these three.

I'm thinking more from an aesthetic point of view, mind you. Where as the 350Z, Cayman and 350Z are all coupes, I feel that the S3 is most certainly a hatch back and thus more fitting against a 130i hatch.

Yep, but I cant agree with you Bruce Its the Z4 Roadster or Z4 Coupe that makes more sense in my eyes. I also think 135i Coupe competes with 335i or 1er Hatchback.
I can see myself driving 135i Coupé next time I change a car, not a Z4 or a TT. If I had two cars a TT or Z4 makes sense but not if I only can afford one car and thats the car Im going to live with for some time.

Anyway lets agree to disagree

I'd take the Cayman as well from this rather weird comparison.

Re: Autocar: BMW 135i vs 350Z vs S3 vs Cayman

Raading through the article again I can't help but thinking that BMW has done a very good job in creating the runner up in the 1-series hierarchy (I get the same feeling about the M3 in the 3-series but to a lesser extent). Judging from what Car has to say it is obvious what will be changed when the range-topper, whether it will be called Tii or not, is presented.

And again, great job in the comparison against the Cayman. No doubt I too would choose the Cayman but then again, that is a Porsche and the BMW is just an ordinary BMW.

Cayman. Just because it's made in Finland.

Poverty is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Autocar: BMW 135i vs 350Z vs S3 vs Cayman

The BMW is too ugly and too expensive for what it is. I'll take all of the other cars before it. They should have included a evo in this comparison imho. It would have been the best all rounder

If it was the Cayman S, definitely. Not so sure about the Cayman, it is too underpowered for a Porsche and then there is the $50K price tag.

Re: Autocar: BMW 135i vs 350Z vs S3 vs Cayman

Not surprising at all that Cayman wiped the floor with both of the others. Like I said in another post, if I need something fun and not all that practical there are more choices than just the 135, but If I need something hardcore once again, there are more choices than the 135.

I'm not knocking the 135, it's just that I feel it offers nothing special. But I'll reserve my final opinion when I get to drive it myself.
