New E63 vs Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT My uncle is thinking about this so thought I post this up. A new e63 costs roughly the same as a 3-4 year old (2004) Bentley Continental GT. about 70K pounds sterling. Both have roughly the same bhp. Perfromance is similar in the real world (i think). Both brutal. Bentley has more presence of course and most importantly the bulk of its depreciation has past. Not sure how reliable a Bentley is though, particularly the 2004 versions (mileage: about 40K). Thoughts?? Anything to be aware of?

Re: New E63 vs Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT I'm extremely biased here, but tell him to go for the Mercedes. The Bentley won't provide the same driving experience, not because it drives badly but because it is just different from a Benz. Interior wise the Bentely is the winner, but exterior the Benz is the one. I vote for a shiny new E63, not a overgrown frog of a Bentley*. *blatantly biased post M

Re: New E63 vs Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT It really depends on what type of driver your uncle is, and what does he want in his car. The E63 won't feel as special as a Continental GT, so if he wants a fast comfortable cruiser with unique styling, the GT is the way to go. If he wants a fast comfortable 4 door luxury sedan that can go around corners with a bit of attitude, then the E63 is for him. For me, I will be extremely tempted to go for the GT, but at the end, I will pick the E63. It is more understated, but it is probably just as good to drive as the GT, even though it lacks the sense of occasion. If you don't mind spending a bit more money the CLS 63 is definitely worth a look. It has a beautifully designed interior that is almost a match for the Bentley.

Re: New E63 vs Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT It really depends on what you're looking for. I would never compare an E63 AMG to any Bentley and vice versa: both are completely different cars. If your uncle is looking for sport the E63 AMG is the only way to go. Extreme status, prestige and comfort? Bentley.

The bottom line is that both these cars couldn't be more different. The E63 AMG is a luxury car with sports as the main priority while the Bentley puts luxury before sport, simply said. | |

Re: New E63 vs Pre-owned Bentley Continental GT Looking for a "cheap" route into Bentley circles? Then the a used CGT is the way to go. Eventhough it comes with comparable power to the E63 it's engine develops much more torque. But you have to bare in mind that the Bentley is considerably heavier than the E63. The fuel consumption is higher too and service is very expensive. A new E63 comes with warrenty while a used 2004 CGT doesn't. The Benz is clearly the better choice here.
