They're suprisingly even and IS even manages to win some categories but I don't think anbody really expected a different final result.

BTW The 0-100 km/h time is really disappointing for the C 230.

It really is My Swift can do it in 11,0 s with 92 hp. But this Merc has a fast 7-speed-automatic and 204 hp!

Mercedes official time for the acceleration is 8,7 s! The 6-speed-manual should do the sprint in 8,3 s...

That's probably because it's a Euro-spec model with gear ratios tuned for fuel economy at the expense of acceleration. A US-spec model has the complete opposite setup.

But like ree said, the official (European) 0-100 km/h time (automatic) is 8,7 s.

MB usually overstates those. I'm sure it's something like 8.4 / 8.5 seconds IRL. Also, the C230 is a pretty "weak" V6 from a power point of view. It looks like its tuned for longlivity (low hp / liter output = less wear and tear) rather than straight performance anyway.

LOL I'm a bit confused about what you're trying to say... AMS got 10,1 s for the C 230 in this test which IMO is disappointing when the official MB time is 8,7 s...

I don't think the engine is weak, it has adequate power IMO.

Oh, I didn't look at the review yet. If there is one thing I learned about AMS, it's never to trust their 0-100 times because they don't really focus on that. I've seen them get crappy times for cars like the BMW M3 (3.2 I6) whereas another magazine got a much lower time.

There are also many factors that could have affected the performance of the C230 in this test. What kind of tires did it have? Was a "big person" behind the wheel? Weather and temperature conditions? Was the transmission shifting properly or was there a defect? Etc. This isn't an excuse, but I never trust AMS when it comes to 0-100 times. They're good for general information about the car, safety tips, a few others and possibly top speed tests (at Nardo etc.) but that's it. 0-100 km/h times are their big weakness IMHO.

I'm sure it does. I've never driven the C230 but I did drive the C200 Kompressor and C180 Kompressors and those are perfectly adequate when it comes to performance. In fact my dream gasoline-powered C-Class is the C200 Kompressor. I don't need a C230, C280, C350 and a C63 AMG.
