M3 is 30% more expensive than C63 in Hong Kong. Worth it?

Ok guys,

My first post. I live in Hong Kong and currently am decidng between the C63 and M3 - until i checked the prcies. Unless there is a typo on the respective websites (Mercedes HK is - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER and BMW is - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER) the M3 is priced at 1.36M (Hong Kong dollars) and the C63 is priced at 1.08M - this represents a whopping 26% price difference. Now in HK 99% of the cars are automatics so assuming when the M3 (auto version) comes out, it should be priced at about 1.4-1.5M - this represents a hugh 30 plus % price difference.

In Asia we pay a premium for cars anyway but 30% difference between a M3 and C63 is alot!

Unless you are particular about having a manual transmission, definitely not.

Re: M3 is 30% more expensive than C63 in Hong Kong. Worth it?

We have usually prices here in Hong Kong (actually Australiasia). So one has to consider the price and "what you get". Considerations therefore are very different to Europre and USA. On a relative scale:

(7.75 HK dollar = 1 USD. Prices in HKD)

M3 = 1.36M
911= 1.36M
E63 (not E55) = 1.36M
C63 = 1.08M
335i coupe = 650K
S5 = 740K

So interesting questions:

1) BMW HK (according to the site) has priced the M3 more than twice the price of a 335i coupe. Are they mad???
2) M3 and 911...same price...which one would you get?

Re: M3 is 30% more expensive than C63 in Hong Kong. Worth it?

M3 priced like a 911... this sort of pricing is as stupid as Audi's RS4 is some countries.

Anyhow, the M3 is not worth 30% more then the C63.

And from the cars listed above, I'd go for the 335i... it's less than half the price and way more than half the car.

If it is the standard Carrera I think its a close call...

Regarding C63 vs M3 you, of course, have to decide for yourself but if those 30% are a lot of money I would lean towards the C63 even if its an automatic.

Silly low price for the Benz and generally very strange pricings. Imagine getting an E63 for M3 money... Or a 335i for half the M3 money. That would make the 335i cost you something like 35,000 €...
