| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals They really dislike it (unlike alomst everyone else), that is for sure. Only positive thing that was not accompanied by a "but" was the engine. Not even Auto-Express could beat down on that :-) From what I can tell the journalists on Auto-Express simply does not like modern style BMW. |

| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals I'd take the BMW 1-Series Coupe here. It's the most aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. The Audi TT still looks a bit "weird" and "shrunk" to me and it looks too similar to its predecessor. The VW Golf is a very a boring design that only looks somewhat "interesting" in GTI or R form. I'm sure all of them perform nicely, but I also want my car to look good. BMW for me please. |

-brakes -balance -cruising manners They did not like the steering, and I've seen at least one other review stating it was "uninvolving." I will agree there are a whole bunch of things wrong with the article (not holding the VW to the same aesthetic standard against the TT, for example), but equally problematic is that BMW offers only the top-spec as the petrol engine in the UK. From what I see, the 128i won't be offered there. Sport suspension and low-profile runflats over broken pavement have been roundly criticized in British press before, so it's BMW's fault for not offering more suitable alternatives for that market.

2. But, to AE this seems to only apply when the car is not pushed. 3. But, to AE this seems to only apply regarding gearing. Auto Express has a very negative tone towards the 135i from begining to the end. This article is, by far, the worst judgement of the car so far. They simply did not like this car, as they seldom seem to do when it comes to BMW. After reading previous reports I was rather surprised that the 135i did not come out on top against this competition. Price is maybe a big factor for Auto Express.

| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals What's so surprising? The TT is a sportier car, more exclusive and is more premium than the 135i, and the GTI is quite hot hatch. This is a no brainer. |

| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals I don't understand how they can compare the 1 coupe with a TT wich is one class upper. |

| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals As usual in these tests just to sell magazines , There is no direct rival as such for the 1er Coupe - The TT is more a Z4 Rival than a 1er Coupe rival. And the Golf is more of a 1er 3dr hatchback rival . Some countries magazines and their group tests hardly make any sense. |

| Re: Auto Express: 1-Series Coupé vs rivals True rival for TT is Z4 Coupe, not 1er. What I reacted to was their comments on the steering and the "chuncky" gearbox. There is absolutly no wrong with that. Who won the comparison, I dont care about. |
