We all have our opinions. I see way more plastic pieces in the BMW and Audi engine bay. Thats what makes them look cleaner. I agree with you about the C63, It`s my choice as well!

Anyway we should know the BMW M3 sedan is going to pick up some weight. While the M3 coupe is very light at a little more than 3500lbs the sedan should weigh in at around 3750 or so pounds which is closer to it`s true rivals tested here.

Interesting how the Audi has it's windscreen/windshield wipers facing in the opposite direction to the BMW and MB.

Now there's something really fascinating to talk about....

On a more serious note, very interesting to note that the M3's the only one of this trio to not have the company badge pasted in the engine bay (ie: no BMW badge, just the ///M badge). Gosh... the engine bay can seriously be one fascinating place to stare at .... for about 30 seconds that is.

It`s just loaded with black plastic (BMW is the most guilty) you would have thought the engineers would have at least made a matalliac looking exhaust manifold like the others but you don`t even get that. It`s extremely boring!

The driving dynamics make up for this.

I see no point with that. Im not going to exibition with a M3. If that was important both audi/bmw/mercedes should take a look at Alfa Romeos. Becuase the germans look like crap compare to a Alfa.

A tip is to spray the engine bay with your own personal colour, I choose purple.

I believe your being a little extreme here. My point was the designers could have used a little more imagination with the design of the engine bay.

That aside whats your weight est. figure for the M3 sedan compared to the coupe.

again,I dont care about the engine bay.

where I live we use KG and not Pounds so I cant give you an answer.

Now for pete's sake once and for all. The M3 does not have an engine cover. At all. Period. The big black box sitting on top of the V8 is the engine inlet air box or plenum.

Interestingly, when I look at the technical photo's of the M3's engine - particularly the inlet system - I simply see a unique work of breathing art that is unmatched in this class. Eight proud inlet trumpets feeding eight individual throttle bodies. So then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't know what you're looking at then how can you possibly appreciate it fully?
