Autobild: Audi A3 1.8 TFSI | BMW 120i | Golf GT

Audi / BMW / VW

Tires: 225/45 ZR 17 W / 205/55 R 16 V / 225/45 R 17 ZR
Topspeed: 220 km/h / 224 km/h / 220 km/h
Test fuel consumption: 8.8 l / 7.7 l / 8.5 l
Range: 630 km / 690 km / 640 km

0-50 km/h 3.0 s 2.7 s 2.9 s
0-100 km/h 8.5 s 8.4 s 7.6 s
0-130 km/h 13.1 s 13.0 s 12.0 s

Brake distance 100 - 0km/h (cold brakes): 36.8 m 34.8 m 36.7 m
Brake distance 100 - 0km/h (warm brakes): 37.1 m 35.5 m 37.4 m

Weight distribution: 61/39% 51/49% 62/38%

Facit:
New 1,8 TFSI von Audi proves as mad engine - against the almost already ingenious 1,4 TSI of VOLKSWAGEN it cannot succeed however. The Golf GT is roomy and fast. The BMW 120i offers many smart savings ideas, but unfortunately too little place.

1. VW (433 p)
2. Audi (405 p)
3. BMW (402 p)

Intresting note, both Audi and bmw score 18 points in category Quality impression/materials and Golf only score 17 points.
Interior quality has been improved in BMW 1-series.

Re: Autobild: Audi A3 1.8 TFSI | BMW 120i | Golf GT

Swoscch! the Golf GT is fast. A swedish carmagazine dynoed the golf GT and it turned out that the engine is more powerful than VW claim. Only 1.4 liters but still a cool engine.
Nice to read that BMW fixed the interior quality issues. Brakes on the bimmer is damn good.

Re: Autobild: Audi A3 1.8 TFSI | BMW 120i | Golf GT

I assume the A3 and 1er lost out due to cost grounds, as you'd expect!

I wish I could read german to read the whole article!

The Golf GT has turned out to be exactly what VW wants it to be - performance with frugality.

Re: Autobild: Audi A3 1.8 TFSI | BMW 120i | Golf GT

I'm friggin cheezed that the A3 SB 1.8T didn't win. You all know how I feel about the A3 SB - I'm a huge fan. The svelte looks, the classy interior, the fantastic 1.8T engine (I don't care for all that supercharger / turbocharger to and fro'ing...) and of course the Audi image. What a fabulous car. I wish I had one in the family. Honest.

Re: Autobild: Audi A3 1.8 TFSI | BMW 120i | Golf GT

I was expecting the Audi to be the winner, but I doff my cap to Volkswagen.

Glad to know BMW improved the interior with facelift 1-Series.
