Plus let's not forget that the C-Class they tested was an Elegance model.
but still (no I dont give up ) with softer suspension and more weight the E-class handle better than C-class on a track. Off course the better brakes help the E-class around the track.

Like I said, I've driven both and to me, the Avantgarde W204 C-Class was more nimble and easier to control in the limits than the facelifted Avantgarde E-Class.
and I respect your testdrives and I love them but feelings and numbers on papers doesn't always match
Like the article says, C-class offer better traction and also it weigh less and a smaller cars so of course it will feel more agiler. So your feelings are correct.

Ps I know E-class in this test is the Avantgarde version, I stated that already in my first post.

The Avantgarde E-Class will have a slightly sturdier suspension than the Elegance E-Class and C-Class. It's an advantage for the E-Class in this case.

Re: Autozeitung: Mercedes C 200 Komp versus E 200 Komp.

Why would they compare an avantagarde E against an Elegance C.

Re: Autozeitung: Mercedes C 200 Komp versus E 200 Komp.

I would be spewing if I forked out extra money for the E to find the C is the better car!! .

The E is always going to be the bigger brother to the C and it should be the better car. While some might suggest it was unfair comparison, it just wouldn't be right if the E was beaten by its smaller brother, IMO.

Lets look at the positive, the Elegance C only lost by 100 odd points (under the circumstances, I don't think its a lot IMO) to the sportier Avantgarde E.

Thanks, JM!

It's always interesting to read these "apples to oranges" comparisons, especially when you owned "apples or oranges" through the years

Re: Autozeitung: Mercedes C 200 Komp versus E 200 Komp.

I could certainly buy a late model W211 instead of my upcoming C300 (for less money) but it would be a bad choice. Not only is the E in it's next to last model year but it's also the most trouble prone model MB has built recently, even when comparing it to the present C and pre-07 S-classes. This has been confirmed by the techs at my dealer. It's true enough that the W211 and W203 reliability has improved dramatically in the last two years but they are still old news now.

In the magazine article discussed here, was the color of the C-Class mentioned? It looks like Barolo Red which is what I have ordered. I notice that the cashmere beige interior is not the same cashmere beige in the new S-Class, being lighter and almost like my C-320s Java leather.
