A weird comparison, for some of the categories, it's obvious which ones better, such as for running costs, of course the C class is going to be better!

I really like that colour on the C class, looks great. The interior colour combinations on the E class make it look very luxurious, I must say I really don't like the new Cs interior, the E class is better in every way in that department!

The E-Class also offers more space - and space is often a deciding factor in German car magazines. I believe they also felt you get more for your money with the E200 Kompressor when compared to the C200 Kompressor.



How tall are you? I am 6'4" and I can sit quite comfortably in the back of our E-Class provided the front seats aren't pushed back too far. I don't sit in the rear at all tough. I'm either driving or sitting next to the driver.

The C-Class tested here is clearly an Elegance model and the E-Class is clearly an Avantgarde trim version. So yes, pretty dumb on Autozeitung's part.

A C class in avantgarde trim with the "Agility package" will probably be a better handler.Most of these cars tested,like even the one autobild tested dont have the agility package(to be introduced in 08,i think),Evo drove one with the said package and they loved the way it handled.

But an E-class has to be always better than a C in comfort,,luxury,refinement and space.

you guys have to give it to the E, not does it only handle better, the car also offer better comfort than C.

Despite this I would pick C-class due of its size and in avantgarde trim C looks better than E-class.

1. It's obvious that the E-Class is bigger and thus more spacious. It would be my choise over the C-Class, too!

2. I'm 1.86m. I'm not considered quite tall, but above average. I can't fit nicely in the back of a Laguna, and in the rear sits of my Volvo, i fit just ok with the seats in normal position.

Accurate? You have got to be kidding me. The MUCH older and much bigger E-class wins in driving dynamics.....VERY poor job by MB...

Well, i'd choose the E mainly because of following reasons: the car wins in almost every important category, afaic... Except for Engine & Transmissons category (), but i guess the bigger size and weight justifies it. It isn't "by miles" better by C, it just works better by C, with reasons of course.

Chassis, traveling comfort and driving dynamics. More space, more comfortable, brakes better, drives/feels/handles better...Plus, it's the best option: Avantgarde! Enough afaic!

It does cost 8k more, but it's worth imo.

And lastly, but subjective... The design. Lol, i know many will disagree and call me crazy, i'm sorry, i just like E much more.

One thing though, that they both need to work on is, as article says, the transmission...

Nothing is perfect anyays...

PS: Just for the record, The E200 Kompressor in Avantgarde trim in Croatia costs 48,000 €!

maybe i wasent clear enough..i meant that the result as a whole is accurate to me..
ofcourse there are dodgy parts..like the dynamics bit..or the space thingy..or for instance the costs section..
some battles where lost before they where faught for both cars..
but all in all the E should win over the C..and so on..

I still belive the C is the better handler..i think they gave E better grades given its larger size..
as you will see the lower powerd coming C63 will most likely kill the E63 around a track..
