95% of the buyers wont even exploit 50% of the handling abilities of the X5. A proper SUV should be able to go offroad, whether one uses it or not. The ML can go offroad pretty well and brialliantly if u have the offroad pack, it rides very well,it handles well(maybe not well as an X5, but atleast upto 85% of the X5 capabilities)also it is well built. The only thing where the X5 may have advantage is interior design, but then its subjective. The ML does more things than the X5 so it is the better SUV.

Both offroad and handling abilities are overrated for SUV, not many will explore those abilities. In the end SUVs are just big and fat cars.

US sales for May ML-2601 X5-2858 doesn't look bad to me,considering that the X5 is 2 years younger than the ML and also i believe ML is more expensive than the X5.

| Re: Super SUV Test: ML63 Versus THE REST!!! In my country proper versatility counts for a lot when judging the merits of an SUV. Not to mention the ability to survive the odd bad road and not having to contact BMW-on-call to come and change a tyre for you. I suppose it's all relative, in Africa we have lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, hyena, crocodile, hippo, buffalo, black mamba, Cape cobra, rock python and some other noteworthy critters. In Sweden, you've got the Artist. |

The same argument can be put for the GL and ML,but here both are full size SUV's and ML has 5 seats so someone who wants a 7 seater will buy the GL. as for image i'm not talking of Mercedes image but the image of the ML as a poor product from Mercedes. Also US has most SUV sales as a country so i believe it represents a comparative picture of how the SUV's are faring, secondly i don't have any reference to European sales for the ML and the X5.Maybe u can give me a linky dinky.

No sorry, sales arent my area. I'm sure Eni has salesnumbers ![]() Anyway, the talk which one is the best is pointless to argue, its in the eye of the beholder. There are no facts or rules to determine which is the best, just personal opinions.
