The S5 is a good deal heavier then the 335i to the best of my knowledge, also the power loss due to quattro and the fact that the 335i's engines is one of the best to date. I honestly thought the 335i would have the advantage at higher speeds!

Re: Autocar: S5 vs. 335i

Still, it's a V8 with 354hp... Almost 50hp more and it still doesn't make such big difference... Plus, that's an S Audi model and this is regular 3er...

^And the 335i isn't a regular 3er,that car is tuned well for sprty and aggressive driving much more than lesser 3er coupes and sedans!

No M badge, no Sport pckg, no nothing except 2 turbos, one smaller and one bigger.. More like a regular BMW to me...

In any case it's an S model with V8 against standard 3er, so no worries.

Lol dominate is a strong word, pretty darn close and for a lot less money the 335i is doing well. And its a lot easier to tune the engine in 335i, God bless Turbo
I wonder if there is coming a 335is, there been rumours about the car.

PS no 0-200km/h numbers?

Re: Autocar: S5 vs. 335i

There's nothing mysterious above the S5's speed advantage and the faster you go the bigger the difference there is between it and the 335i.

no no tyc. This isn't a diesel engine. The 2 turbos are the same size (small). I don't really think the 335i and S5 are direct competitors to be honest. They are positioned quite differently.

Re: Autocar: S5 vs. 335i

In my opinion, the performance figures are quite close.
On the other hand- the price difference I am anticipating will be quite huge: in the 5-7k region.

I'm sorry for using the word "Dominate" ok? I honestly didn't know the S5 was faster then the 335i at higher speeds, regardless if it's a V6 or V12 I really didn't know! We all know what BMW's capable of achieving with just a 6 cylinder now don't we? I wouldn't of been surprised with the 335i was the fastest of them above 100mph, infact I expected it. None the less you can't go wrong with either of these two amazing machines!
