Post BMW 335d SE vs Mercedes CLK320 CDI Sport

They’re two of the world’s most desirable diesels, but is BMW's all-new 3-Series coupe a more tempting buy than its oil-burning Mercedes CLK rival?

BMW's 335d's more than a match for its petrol-powered equivalent and faster and more economical - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Merc's CLK is dearer than the BMW 335d, less powerful but arguably more relaxing to drive

Re: 335i SE Vs CLK320 Sport

It is not a fair comparison IMHO.
I will take the 335i(d) anytime, but I think it is only fair to compare the 330 to the CLK320

Re: 335i SE Vs CLK320 Sport

Wow, the merc was outclassed in almost every category..

Accleration, Economy (37.7mpg in the BMW vs. 36.7mpg in the Merc), Price, and even comfort....

To be expected. The CLK is no spring chicken.

Re: 335i SE Vs CLK320 Sport

The CLK is getting pretty "old" now, but at the same time, it doesn't pretend to be a "sports car". The CLK has always stood for relaxed motoring / cruising. No surprise that it was outclassed by a sports car. Impressive the BMW comfort.
