very close indeed, it shows toyota is really catching up fast as the silverado won primarily becoz of value....

Having been a long time Toyota supporter it is of course my choice in this comparsion. Having said that, If the Dodge Ram 1500 (preferably the Quadcab) had been in this comparsion it would have been my choice.

Personally, I've never been impressed with Chevrolet's offerings when it came to pickups, but I haven't tried the new Silverado - perhaps it exceeds my expectations

I've read a lot of comments about the Tundra being the most overrated and overhyped car on sale today. Most of these comments comes from the Xenophobic and Racist North-American Anti-Import and the also (Very) Xenophobic, (Racist) GM Fan crowd.

I really don't give a damn about pickup trucks. So what the hell do I know?

What I really do know, however, is that GM makes some fine cars, but their (lack) of reliability is appalling (I know that as a fact. I had two lemons from GM) and Toyota is poised to overtake GM still in this year. I wish good luck to Toyota. I hope that once on the Top, they don't screw things up like the Americans did.

I wonder when the "American Base" of truckland are going to realize that the Toyota Tundra is more American than either the the F-series or the Sliverado.

It's hard to argue the value of the American trucks. They're priced so low and discounted so deep they're practically disposable. Objectively though, the vehicles speak for themselves. Just take one look at the cabins of these two trucks and it's easy to see who's on the ball.

(An aside - the center console of the Tundra is deep enough to hold hanging folders and can accommodate laptops.)

STYLING DISASTER comes to mind.

Though I have to admit, the Tundra looks pretty good. I thought the last generation Tundra was the best-looking Toyota sold in the United States.

Just found this article on the net: Interesting read, as Toyotas entry level Tundras not moving but total opposite for the big guns:

ARTICLE:
Toyota is finding that sales of 5.7L models are very strong. In fact much stronger than originally anticipated. The 5.7 is accounting for 70% – 80% of Tundra sales, whereas they were originally expecting more like 50% – 60% to be the case.

Also, the just released CrewMax is getting a lot of interest (and sales). Even so, Toyota is still having trouble moving entry-level models, as they are just too expensive when compared to equivalent domestic brand models. That being the case, Toyota is busy adjusting the production mix to match demand.

Tundra's lessons learned:
Here are some things Toyota has learned since launching its full-sized pickup:

• CrewMax more popular than expected

• Standard cab models aren't moving.

• Sales of the 5.7-liter V-8 are stronger than predicted.

• Transaction prices vary by region.

• Truck shoppers are Internet-savvy
