Re: AMS: Porsche 911 Turbo AUTOMATIC vs. MANUAL gearbox

Damn that's fast. The reason why the automatic is accelerates faster is because you can floor the throttle before the car has even taken of and when you let go of the brake, the car will take of without any wheel spin what so ever. That is something you can't do with the manual.

Re: AMS: Porsche 911 Turbo AUTOMATIC vs. MANUAL gearbox

Wow, the TripTronic leaves the manual for dead (in terms of acceleration) in this test. Nice job

In fact, I'd seriously consider the TripTronic version. Not only because it's faster, but because I believe it would serve better as a daily driver.

Thanks for the scans, ree

Re: AMS: Porsche 911 Turbo AUTOMATIC vs. MANUAL gearbox

But we should all remember: The Porsche 911 Turbo has an OVERBOOST function - so I think without the automatic version would be as fast as the Mercedes or even slower!

Re: AMS: Porsche 911 Turbo AUTOMATIC vs. MANUAL gearbox

Porsche says overboost means 0.2 s to 100 kph (that will be 3,8 s)

Tip is 5-speeds right? When is Porsche changing to 6-speeds?

Never Their DSG tranmission will be introduced in the GT2 and will be offered for the face lifted 911 so you can kiss automatic good bye.
