Re: The One Car You Absolutely Hate

Nope - IIRC the smaller the better, so a car with .43 figure would be less aerodynamic than a car with a .35 figure.

I'm no expert by any means but I think that's the case.....

Now Matt think for a moment, do you really think all CLSs are this way or do you think that the one you saw had been abused during the course of the auto show? To even suggest that what you saw is normal practice is just plum ridiculous. Car with a pillarless door design take a beating with repeated slamming, especially at an auto show with all type of ham-fisted people doing the slamming. I'm sure we've all seen cars in less than perfect condition towards the end of an auto show, I know I have. Knobs broken, gearshift boots ripped, seats dirty or even broken. Now how many people you know with a 70K car that drive around in one in this condition?

Again, tell us why you really "hate" a car like the CLS so much when there are literally hundreds of other cars on the road that are more worthy of being hated. Something way too personal is going on here because all objectivity has flat out been missing in your posts about the CLS.

I can (well actually I can't) understand why you don't like the looks of the car, it is sort of radical for Mercedes-Benz, but Porsche, Aston-Martin, and even BMW and Audi (both just rumored at this point) have taken the bait of making a 4-door Coupe. Mercedes, just like that invented a new market segment, whether you like the car or not it is a trendsetter.

If BMW or Audi makes one of these things i will be pretty dissapointed. Your right, the car was falling apart because of the constant slamming doors but still-that was one of the few i noticed that was. Of course they dont come like that off the assembly line-but the durability seemed pretty dissapointing.
I told you why i didnt like the CLS already-refer back to post #58. The truth is i dont hate any car in particular. Obviously i prefer german brands over japanese and American...but i thought everyone else was picking on those guys so i would say something about one german i dont particularily like. I like any car built with some sort of purpose in mind-whether its transportation, gas mileage, practicality, rock climbing, handling, etc. The CLS doesnt have any of that imo.

Come on Matt. Let's not push that rubber sealing falling apart too far. Let's face the fact, every single car model has it's lemons. I'm sure there is a 911, 335i, Q7 och even an S-class with some interior component falling apart. Every car model has it's lemon and I'm sure a wise guy like you know that. The CLS is a durable car and the you were unlucky to find a lightly bad or even abused one. I haven't read any reports which seem to suggest that the CLS isn't durable.

That sounds a little bit better. Some cars are just made for styling and for the sake of being different. Stody old Mercedes would have never made something so good looking and impractical just a few years ago. It adds some glamour to the lineup and gives people something to gawk at when it goes by. Its a leisure, fun car not dictated by, something not solely dictated by an engineering brief. The CLS handles better than the E-Class while also managing to ride better so there are some function aspects to it also.

Also, any car with a pillar-less door design is going to show some wear after an autoshow appearance. Most CLSs I've seen over the last few years at autoshows had dirty, stained seats from all the people getting in and out, something it would take years to happen with a private owner who kept on top of conditioning the leather like you're supposed to.

Somebody should tell them that their car is based on the old generation E-class.

Agreed and therefore, here's my list of German cars that i can't stand:

1. BMW - X3 (ugliest crap that ever came with their logo on it, followed by Z4 that looks like smashed Hyundai from the front)
2. Audi - A2 (w t f were they thinking)
3. MB - R class (most pointless car in their whole line up, let alone AMG version)
