Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

I think the C-Class overall will get new engines next year, with the entry level model having 275hp and the C350 or whatever they call it will have around 320hp. Turbocharging and direct injection and some other trick, not a V8, IMO. I don't buy the rumors about a V8 C400, too heavy and expensive for the class to not be an AMG model.

while MB will offer:
C 300 with 3.0L NA engine with 228hp (231PS)
C 350 with 3.5L NA engine with 268hp (272PS)

So its obvious C300 vs 328i, and C350 vs 335i in US market.

Regarding Euro 330i model: N53 3.0L HPI engine with 272PS (268hp) is coming into 330i in September (sedan, touring & coupe, while cabrio already features it). Not to forget other upgrades!

Thanks for those, Eni

Looking at those figures, maybe a comparison between the C300 and 328i would be better

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

Wrong colour for 3er, should have been blue cause the colour on the tested 3er isnt flattering. White suit the C-class perfect.

Reading the review, 3er still have directer steering and sportier ride. The gap is closing in but not better.
Remind me of the seatcomfort, 3er is more comfortable than ever and the seats are now very comfortable and closing in on the C-class (but the suspension is harsher on the 3er).

A facelift is coming soon for the 3er and total package is going to be better. I just wish 3er had a sportbutton ala C-class but the facelift wont get it but Im certain next generation 3er is getting a sportbutton, now it can only be found in M-cars.

As said before, strange comparison. 335i vs 350 would be more appropriate. Maybe there were no 335i available?

M

Entry level with 275 HP is outrageous. The C350 is also having to deal with bigger displacement vs. the upcoming/upgraded N53 and N54, and I don't know about CO2 figures vs. the bimmers engines.

The most important C klasse will be the diesel(s) with displacements between 2.0 and 2.5 liters.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

This Winding road test was conducted in Spain when they were there to drive the C-class like all other journalist.

they just tried to see on equal(or nearly equal)power which is the better performing car, this test is not done with an american prespective in mind.It was not even a full on test more of a minor duel.

also their verdict is the same as other magazines which says that the C-class is now a much better handling car,not as fun to drive as the 3er but a much more accomplished everyday entry luxury sedan due to its brilliant ride quality which none of its rivals match.A true Mercedes I say, they would never compromise 25% ride comfort for 10% driving pleasure.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

The 330i weighs less, is faster and costs way less... it probably has better fuel efficiency as well.

And considering that we're not even talking about the 335i (in any compro so far)... I'd say the C still has some catching up to do.

In terms of looks though, MB did a fantastic job (I just wish the rear was as nice as the front). The C looks very classy (more than the 3er) and sporty. The first C in many generations that isn't a disgrace in terms of looks.

I don't agree with that at all.
I think the C-class looks better and in terms of performance and handling, as unfair as it is, the 3er is ahead.

Give 3er any colour you want and the c-class will be nicer (this is the truth)
3er: is sportier but if you drive 10 hours daily (only one or two hours you need to race and the eight hours you want relax which you can find it in c-class)

c-class: combine the both sport and luxury when you want to race use sport mode(if you want to relax you can find it by a button which is not available in 3er)

one more thing is you are using around 70% of 3er sporty driving because if you are driving 100% of sporty driving that's mean you are not driving in a legal street so you don't want that much of sporty driving car but if you are driving 90-95% of c-class sporty drive it will be fine to drive anywhere thats mean in daily sporty driving they will be the same but 3er will be better in a track race

Soooo c-class is better for daily driving sport and luxury car

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

^weak.

First of all who drives 10 hours every day??? Second of all just because you say (this is the truth)-doesnt actually make it the truth- Especially on a subject so subjective as styling...Additionally because you havent driven the new C class, you cant say whether the ride is better than the 3 series.

Lets look at some cold hard facts....
which car gets better fuel economy? the 3 series.
Which car is faster and has a more powerful engine? the 3 series.
Which car is cheaper? the 3 series
Which car has been the leader of its segment for over a decade? the 3 series
Which brand has been struggling with quality issues for the past 8 years...Mercedes...
etc.
etc.
etc.

You want know my (truth)-the new C class is one of the most uninspired designs of the 21st century. What innovations and improvements has this car brought to the table-slim to none. The stance is weak. The interior is blah. the price is outrageous...and for what-brand image-an image thats slowly circling down the toilet...

yea i said it....
pwned.
