Honda S2000 Replacement a Four-seater?

"Honda's next sports car — which will fill the gap left when production of the S2000 ends — will have four seats and a more upscale look and feel, according to a new report by Winding Road. Sources say the rear-wheel-drive car will be smoother, more refined, and more luxurious than the raw and puristic S2000 roadster.

The story seems to gibe with a report by the U.K.'s Autocar indicating Honda - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER the S2000 — at least not directly. While this new four-seater may take the place of the S2000, it will be inherently different, and almost certainly wear a different badge. In March, Road and Track said Honda would unveil a new coupe - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER that would fill the S2000's spot.

In October 2005, Honda’s Motoatsu Shiraishi admitted the "S2000 has - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER for us." He suggested a different approach would be taken for the car's replacement. He said the car's manual gearbox was a turn-off to many potential buyers. Shiraishi hinted the successor would have to offer a paddle-shift gearbox to broaden the appeal. The new sports car — whatever its name — is expected to arrive in 2009 along with the next NSX supercar."

Re: Honda S2000 Replacement a Four-seater?

The Honda S2000 is quite a popular car, people love its handling and rawness which makes me suprised that the replacement will be a 2+2 coupe. On the other hand I'm happy the car will be more upslace becasue the S2000 has the terrible interior.

I actually quite like the S2000 interior, especially as my dad owned one

However I am surprised by the comment "The S2000 wasn't a success.." I believe Honda was producing 4,500 of these vehicles per year..so they're expectations must have been a lot higher than that.

One thing's for sure, compared to the NSX, the S2000 was definitley a success.

Great car but I never liked the design... very bland IMO. I hope the successor will be more exciting.
