New CR-V, a Q7, XC90 impersonator?

The window line is the main reason it reminds me of the Q7

Re: New CR-V, a Q7, XC90 impersonator?

The rear is totally Volvo... but I fail to see the Q7 in it?!

Eitherway, the overall shape makes it look like a big midget SUV...

Re: New CR-V, a Q7, XC90 impersonator?

The current CRV has been on the market less than 4 years i believe. I wonder why Honda has so short product circle. It could be that their cars are already dated from the time they are presented.

Re: New CR-V, a Q7, XC90 impersonator?

Honda, once again, comes out swinging with something that neither blows it nor sets hearts aflame, and makes the whole lot of us feel confused and uneasy. In short - It's a mess.

I always feel agitated when digesting a new Honda. The company is akin to an A+ student that's done the extra credit work yet is completely devoid of talent. I even appreciate the "robo-souless" theme of Honda. In my eyes, they own the concept, and it's very honest way of presenting their line.

What's irritating is how Honda will spit out car after car with perfectly sound ideas, and completely choke when it comes to detailing. Its as though the board can embrace new ideas so long as they're executed in the most uptight, conservative way possible. Look at the flanks of the new CR-V and think "E53 X5." Those lines are DOA.

What's also irritating is how Honda has the tendency to crib a big styling idea from another brand. They've got the resources to generate their own brilliant ideas, and they've got enough credibility to go blaze their own trails. Hard to believe that in the mid-90s, they had their own look, and were actually style-leaders in their key segements.

When I contrast this against the new Toyota RAV-4 I can only shake my head in frustration. Toyota is going with the flow, and is reaping superb results. Honda, on the other hand, crams for the exam and chokes on test day.

Snake Vargas will become famous soon enough
Re: New CR-V, a Q7, XC90 impersonator?

Yeah, the creases in the sides are a bit X5-ish. The window openings remind me of the Lexus RX330/350 though - maybe they are making it, when people begin to copy them..

It's really a bit of a shame, this SUV, even compared to Honda's own CRV I and CRV II. They might have been a little bland, but at least they were nice bland, well proportioned and neatly detailed.

This one is a bit of a mess, neither butch nor sleek, and ungainly to boot.

And come think - I have to correct myself. In the instance of the CR-V, there isn't really a sound idea at the core. It's a mess that tells you a completely different story from all angles and is only glued together by Honda's stubborn will.

Interior is a different story. I think, like the Civic, there's plenty to enjoy and I'm sure materials are top-notch.

I have yet to see a Honda with top notch materials and i don't think this will be the first one.

Top-notch, relative to their market segment Yannis. They ovbiously don't have anything on Audi, but they do set a high bar for value-priced economy cars.
