Spied! 2008 Honda Accord Coupe

- ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Honda appears to be actively road testing on the upcoming Accord Coupe, and as these spy shots snapped by a poster on the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER show, the production car is going to be a near dead-ringer for the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER at the Detroit Auto Show this past January. Obvious changes include a real-world lower rear fascia that features a pair of chrome exhaust tips, and the 10-spoke wheels seen above. The show car sported a set of integrated quad outlets that were obviously never going to make the transition to production. The dual outlets look perfectly good here.

If you click through to the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER to see the rest of the photos (all high-res), you'll notice that the front end, though taped, also apes the concept car. We're guessing that there's more detail to the bottom half of the front fascia than the Detroit car had (it was quite boring, actually). It's covered up in the photos, leading us to believe Honda's keeping something about it a secret. In any case, we like what we see, and if these cars are out and about, we're sure the pro photogs will be on the case as well in short order. let's see some interior shots!

You can compare the spy shots to the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER of the Accord Coupe concept linked below.

I disagree. I think it's a rather good looking coupe (aside from that Ridgeline-like front grill)

It'll be interesting to see what the rear end design looks like, because from that white camo car it appears to share styling elements from the Toyota Solara.

Re: Spied! 2008 Honda Accord Coupe

I got pretty excited over these photos.

Aside from the questionable grill styling, I think this Accord is the best looking Honda to come along since... well, who knows when. From these spy shots you can see that not much is going to change from the concept that debuted a few months ago, save the revised rear spoiler.

Rear styling is the car's strong point. My favorite is the rear 3/4:

This car almost has me sitting on the fence. Right now I'm shopping for a car and have spent the past three days calling, emailing and visiting lots. Really exhausting. Only thing is - I realize that this car will come out 6 months from now and I'll be on a waiting list to pay MSRP. I'll be at the dealer's mercy.

Still want to see what they've done with the interior. If its as compelling a change that they made with the Civic's new interior we're in for a treat.

( BTW - Checked out the Civic's touchscreen nav system last weekend. Really, really nice unit considering it's a $800 option.)

Re: Spied! 2008 Honda Accord Coupe

Well, there is a certain sense of "something borrowed something blue" but this time around it appears as though Honda is executing well. The C-pillar and the conservatively sculpted rear flanks are really nice.

Re: Spied! 2008 Honda Accord Coupe

Someone forgot to tell Honda that coupes are supposed to be low and sleek, not tall and blockly like some 2-door sedan. Japanese just can't get a handle on styling to save their lives. Good thing they don't depend on such frivilous things to sell cars!

Check the rear-end & tell me what do you think now ...?
