Thumbs down Re: Hamilton teammate to be known in one week

Congrats to him but Mclaren should for their own sake have promoted Pedro. Now Dennis and Hamilton will become even more unpopular in Spain. Dennis stinks.

Not at all, Pedro is actually better if you look at his stats from last year.

I don't really mind Heikki at all it's just that the thinking man would chosen Pedro. MM have already left Mclaren and now that Pedro hasn't been promoted the entire Spain will be furious and it's only a matter of time before Santanders follow in MM's footsteps.

Re: Hamilton teammate to be known in one week

Do you think Ron wasn't aware of the possible spanish sponsors retirement ? And for the Pedro being better than Heikki, there's no way to verify that at the moment, one is a rookie, the other is veterant, one drove a shitty car (R27), the other drove car that was able to catch podium (MP4-21).

He probably has a basic knowledge about how to set up a car, but I don't know if he even has that when it comes to development. Stewart used to say it takes at least three-years to learn that skill. Still, not everyone has it. Many world champs never acquire development skill.

I don't know what work Heikki did on Renault development, but I heard it had more to do with Piquet Jr. With Renault's decline in 2007 and Mclaren's corresponding rise, the common factor is a great car developer. If Renault gets back to winning races in 2008, while Mclaren fades, Alonso should be credited as being one of the greatest car developers EVER!

Not really, the car sucked in 2007 and they knew why , then it's pure logic for them to rise their game for 2008 while Maclaren who was at their top in 2007 will without a doubt fade, not because of Alonso's departure but because of the Spy affair.

But that logic isn't necessarily sound. A bunch of teams, big teams even, have in the past sucked one year, knew why they sucked and still did not raise their game the following year. Ferrari after Prost's first season started to go downhill and they stayed downhill.

It's no secret that many Mclaren engineers didn't want Alonso to go. I don't really like Alonso, but I think it will be one coincidence too many if Renault faded after he left, Mclaren soared, but Renault rises again after he returns. He should be credited for that, but we shall see.

Re: Hamilton teammate to be known in one week

Of course MCLarens engineers didn't want to see a guy like alonso leave the house, it would be foolish to want such talent go, but what i am saying is that F1 world is too much complex to credit a driver alone for the recovry of an entire team and i explained why, of course he had a great impact on the team's performance but he's not a messia that can give 6 tenth only because of his presence.

Re: Hamilton teammate to be known in one week

Alonso is a technical driver and his absence will leave a vacuum at Mclaren.
