2006 Mercedes E-Class Trim Level Variants

Scanned this from the new brochure I picked up at the local dealer. There are three trim levels in Europe that are designed to suit the needs of different buyers.

Classic: the lowest trim level. The exterior lacks chrome-imitating plastic and they usually come with boring steel rims. The interior makes use of a cheaper-appearing wood (still real though) and lacks many of the features found in the Elegance and Avantgarde models. Basically, a stripped E-Class. Police and taxi fleets are the main customers, but also businesses and some private consumers. The biggest engine you can buy with a Classic trim level is the E320 CDI and E350.

Elegance: the most common E-Class trim level style. It comes with more features and a classier exterior than the Classic models. Not much to say about them other than that they're biased towards comfort unlike the Avantgarde models, which place more emphasis on sport but are still biased towards luxury.

Avantgarde: this is the top and sportiest trim level available in the E-Class. The car is lowered, has a sportier suspension setup and a more direct steering feel than the Classic and Elegance models.

Sweet! So, which one would you get Chris ? And when are you gonna test one of these babies?

BTW, I dragged my cousin into the MB family. He just got himself his first car, W210 E320. He loves it so far. Hopefully he'll get a W211 facelifted E350 in the future

Thanks for the scans

Just book yourself a test drive now. An avantagrde or sport version E320 CDI so you can compare with yours

E-Class testdrive coming soon.

And my family has an E320, not an E320 CDI.

Re: 2006 Mercedes E-Class Trim Level Variants

hummm don't like the new avantgarde wheels, the old one is much classier with that polish effect. The new wheel design doesn't look sporty at all. Isn't this new style avantgarde wheel standard on the US pre facelift E classes?

Re: 2006 Mercedes E-Class Trim Level Variants

I like the new look. More aggressive than the original. I am bummed that they will not longer offer the E550 4matic wagon in the U.S. I guess the E63 wagon won't be making it here either. Until BMW offers a 550i or M5 wagon I assume there is no reason for MB to provide V8 wagons in the U.S. to compete. I am glad that my mom got her E500 wagon last year.

Re: 2006 Mercedes E-Class Trim Level Variants

I just recieved the German mkt. brochures for the new CL and E-class in the mail this week. Lovely pics abound, the E-class brochure is especially nice with all of the detailed pics and diagrams, I can assure you the U.S. mkt. brochure will be nothing of the same quality.
