2008 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible

BMW engineers in Munich are on the road these days with their latest luxury baby, the convertible version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The prototype is based on a shortened platform of the Phantom and powered by the same 460-hp, 6.75-liter V-12 engine as the sedan. It offers room for four adult passengers, and the folding canvas top is power-operated. As can be seen from the photos, the car is almost finished: just the Spirit of Ecstasy is missing on the hood and the front and taillights have some tape for disguise. Note the handles for the rear-hinged doors. -Hans G. Lehmann/Hidden Image

Re: 2008 Rolls-Royce Convertible

New Rolls - Royce Corniche will look like exactly like the RR 101EX concept from the Geneva 2006 show - only with folding canvas roof instead of fixed metal one.

Phantom convertible sold out for 2 years

The Rolls Royce 100EX convertible hasn’t even entered production yet, and already is sold out for the first two years, according to a report by AutoTelegraaf. According to the report, the first trial production run at Goodwood went perfectly to plan. The first 100EX convertibles are expected to roll off the line in the middle of next year.

Damn! ...that's amazing.

..and here I was thinking Maybach was already in trouble... looks like it's gonna get a whole lot worse for them unless they bring out something soon .... REAL SOON.

As for the Corniche itself. I'm sure the finished product will look stunning. Probably not as stunning as the 100EX because it won't have that two-tone hood... but stunning nonetheless.

Hey Eni' ... do you know if the Corniche will keep the 100EX's wooden 'deck' behind the rear seats ? ... coz from the pics I've seen, that is absolutely stunning. Reminds me of a the wooden polished deck of some yatch. Glamorous.

Re: 2008 Rolls-Royce Convertible

This shows us BMW have got Rolls Royce right!

Amazing a car costing this much is sold out for the next two years!

Do you think they will make the coupe version of this car they showed as a concept?

Re: 2008 Rolls-Royce Convertible

I'm really not suprised that the car is sold out. It is a very unique car with absolutley no competitors at all, except the Arnage which is equally as elegant but not as magestic. This car is really the ultimate billionaire mobile and most of the production cars are probably going to be shipped over to Monaco, UAE and to people will substansial wealth.
To answer the question in the previous post it is inevitable that a coupe will be produced

Re: 2008 Rolls-Royce Convertible

Yes, there will be a coupe version of Corniche. Named Camargue most possibly. It will be a Corniche with a permanent hard top - as seen on 101EX Concept.

"Camargue" is getting a green light because of one market specifically in mind: Russia. Russian tycoons were very interested in 100EX Concept but expressed concern about canvas roof - not only because of the Russian extreme winter weather, but because of a safety concerns too. So they will get the same car witha a hard top. And with a different name.

But RR officials were a bit surprised when a lot of potential customers from Middle East showed a lot of interest in the 101EX concept. Especially the sheiks liked the LED "stars" in the roof. More interesents - even better.

So, expect "Camargue" about a year after the Corniche.

1. Two-tone exterior will be availbale. Though the hood & A-pllars & frame won't be of brushed aluminium as on 100EX, but colored in e.g. silver paint.

2. Yes, the wooden trim on the deck stays - not in the exact form as on 100EX but similar. The customers liked that detail very much, so they will get it if wanted.
