j/k
It's not like I don't move it when it gets hot. I've contacted HP,, my laptop seem to be defect.

Yep, that's all true Hassan. I've gotten so many defective products I can't stand it..

I said i was kidding man...LOL

Anyways, you're new lappie is a dual-core right? that will definitely be hotter than the normal ones not to mention if you're wearing jeans, it will feel even more hotter because jeans tend to hold heat quite well.

Since you contacted HP, what'd they say?

Dual core CPUs are actually cooler since you have two cores splitting the work, rather than having one core working it's ass off like the Pentium 4 3.6Ghz CPUs which were around a couple of years ago.
As the Ghz war keeps on rolling it won't be long before CPU are back to nonhazardous temperatures.
Here you have pictures of PS3's gigantic heatsink:

I just came back to Sweden a couple off hours ago and sent HP an email, so that they could give me a call tomorrow or so and sent come DHL guy over here to come and pick it up, or an HP technician to get over here and evaluate my laptop.

Re: Burn marks from laptop.

Oh, I didn't know that the dual-core's are cooler. Thanks.

Yeah, I know about the ps3. Ps3's cooling features are the best in the industry. The amount if crap that goes on with the ps3 yet it's still quiet and cool(er) compared to many other electronics..namely 360

Yupp, Sony didn't compromise with the cooling at all, which explains the PS3s humongous size.

Re: Burn marks from laptop.

I have never succeeded using my laptop in bed, it always gets very hot, because you can't rest it on the duvet as the cooling vents can't breath, and so you rest it on you, and well, that doesn't really work!

I hope you get a new laptop or some though Luwalira, because it looks like there's something wrong if your laptop's getting that hot!

Well you should be able to rest it on yourself, since that is where the name laptop comes from. Since hot processors have become an issue the latest three years several manufacturers have started avoid using the word laptop in order to protect themselves from lawsuits. Check out apple and hp's websites. Not anywhere in the descriptions of their notebooks is the actually word "laptop" used.

Re: Burn marks from laptop.

It does work, but after a while I can feel the laptop getting very hot when sitting down!

At the moment the laptop is on my desk and the surface underneath it is pretty hot. Also resting my hands on the laptop to use the keyboard, it feels warm. Should that be the case, or is there something wrong? (it has always been like that, and seeing as this is my first laptop, I have nothing to compare it with!)

Re: Burn marks from laptop.

You might also have a defect laptop. Lay your laptop on a table, surf, chat, listen to music and do what you usually do. Download Core Temp and record make a note of the temperature after the laptop has been on for 30-60min.

The temperature of the core should normally not exceed 60 degrees celcius. If it exceed 70 then heating problem is a fact.
