Well I've used NOD32 cracked both 2.5 and 2.7 and for spyware/adware/keyloggers and even trojans it was unbelivabely ineficient (basicaly it almost didn't stoped a thing).

Yep NOD32 is good at polimorphic in the wild viruses, but it's no spyware/adware/keylogger/trojan defence tool (in that it's very limited).

For on demand scan I use Spybot, AVG antispyware, Ad-Aware, SuperAntiSpyware and even (trial) Prevx1.

The only thing effective in preventing-detecting 0 days and spyware/adware/trojans was/is Cyberhawk witch uses a different aproach compared to the rest. Unfortunately the free version doesn't clean and quarantine nasties, but it doesn't allow them to be executed.

I believe that the latest version of NOD32 has very good spyware/malware detection. I 'm using it together with Firefox and i never had a problem for the past 2 years.

Do you use the cracked version, or pay for it, because AVG is free, same with Zone Alarm!

Zone Alarm Free is very basic-poor firewall, as in no internet conection sharing and so on. The Comodo (free), not only is better then the commercial ZA, but it also has more features then the free ZA. However it's not the most easy to use, nor has lightness (on PC resources) of Jetico (witch now on its v2 is its only peer, but has now gone commercial [bas****s])

I use Jetico 1.0.16 Free with PeerGuardian 2 (on occasions; its free BTW) and Cyberhawk 2.0 Free.

Norton is indeed bloatware. And while the latest test show Norton AV as good, its firewall is poor and the Suite doesn't have anything like Cyberhawk.

I'll look into it, but haven't had any problems with zone alarm, I used to use a crack version till it came free!

Thanks for the info!

Whatever suits you better. Keep in mind that everything has it's pros and cons, as well as its quirks.

I've tried ZA myself both free and commercial (trial or crackes) and found it quite a resource hog.
If you're happy then it's OK.

My experience with it so far says its pretty good. But truth is, is that I'm behind a router which has its own firewall, so I'm pretty well protected whatever way you look at it. Reality is, is that I don't really need a personal firewall, but I'm paranoid.

In saying this, the moment that Zonealarm release their vista compatible software, I'm switching to that. In my experience ZA is the best.

I don't care if it is bloatware (what does this word mean? ) or not. It works fine both at home and at work, so i don't really care to look further in Anti-virus programs

Re: THE Anti-virus/firewall/anti-spyware/anti-adware/anti-malware THREAD

The word bloatware means that it takes up processing power, but a lot more than it needs to. This means it slows down your PC!
