I can remember that there was a test in AMS in 2005 or so - it's a CLK 500 with "hybrid technology"! I will search for this AMS...

Here is the "test" - it's more like a short review, but also some technical data are given...

This CLK 500 has a "Microhybrid" that is a combination of the 270 kW V8 engine and a 6 kW electric motor that produce 250 Nm. It also has a Start-Stop automatic and it should economize about 10 % of the fuel.

The overall economisation is about 3 %!

So is this a full hybrid or one of those stop/start systems? I can't read German.

Nope, it is the 5.5L V8 from the "550" or "500" cars in Europe.

i guess this is the new engine..there is a 350 with similar technology on sale..
but i guess this is the V8 version..wich will be availble for the new SL amongst others

It's the 5.5 litres V8 that is also avaible in CLK 550, S 550, SL 550, E 550 etc. The 3.5 litres V6 is called 350 CGI and only avaible in the CLS 350 CGI at the moment. This engine will replace the 350 in the E-Class next year/ or at the end of 2007...Nevertheless this one isn't comparable with the ISG in this CLK (which isn't avaible at the moment - there are only 12 cars with this new Microhybrid technology)! The CGI has "direct injection".
