| Re: CL63 Now on www.mbusa.com Well, I was able to "build my own" in reality before MBUSA could get the "build your own", up and running on their website. Now, almost 2 days old, I now have a 2008 CL63 Iridium Silver with Black leather, identical to Artist's picture, above. I took some quick pictures for "the other forum" and for my out of state children to see, but I am hoping to shoot some high resolution pictures for "the real forum", germancarzone.com, over this weekend. Not wanting to post in the wrong place, but should I post them here or in the more generic "My Car" pictures thread ? The car is absolutely insane ! Mercedes has really done a job on the CL ! Details and pictures to follow with a full report. By the way, thanks to everyone on this forum who has made this "ride" so enjoyable. You guys ARE "the real forum" ! |

The wheels were an interesting item as the initial information from MBUSA to my dealer was that the standard wheel would be 19" with their new performance tire partner, Yokohama. I liked the wheel in the avatar, but thought it was only going to be available with the 030 performance package. I didn't have prices when I ordered the car in February, but the package was rumored to be $12-15,000.00 which I thought was a bit steep and additionally I was afraid it might include additional suspension enhancements that might detract from the ride quality of a CL. It wasn't until the car was actually completed that my dealer advised me that 20" (769) was the standard wheel for the CL, and apparently the S63. Also, the car arrived with Continental's and not Yokohama as was expected. Speaking of pricing, as the car was ordered before any pricing had been established by MBUSA, many of the "options" I ordered became "standard equipment" once the car was invoiced. Park Assist, Alcantara Headliner have become included in the base CL63 price. | |
