Hello, everyone:

This is the first time I have written in this section of the forum. I have a friend who has bought a new 2008 (or maybe 07) Cayman S. In his excitement while talking about his car, he said its top speed was 190 mph. I kept quiet so as to not take the wind out of his sails, but I had read in Road & Track and on the Porsche website that the top speed without mods was 171 mph. I don't plan to say anything, as it would be unkind, but I would like to know which number is correct. Thank you for your kind attention.

Factory claimed time, without any mods, is 275 km/h or 170 mph.

I can't say how fast the Cayman is, but the speedo is often a bit optimistic in a car, especially at high speed. Could explain the difference. So he could have seen 185 on the speeedo, whereas the real speed was more about 170.

It seems a big difference though ..

Thank you both for your responses. I think he was told 190 mph by his sales rep and believed it. I won't be busting his bubble, as neither of us will ever see those speeds on roads here in Miami, or elsewhere for that matter. Thanks again.

About the top speed well i donn't wich is correct but i'm sure that the car will go up to 285km/h
