| Enter the Rumormill: Porsche Cayman Club Sport spied? - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER The introduction of the Porsche Cayman S was met with equal parts reverence and revilement, with many criticizing Porsche's midship masterpiece as being underpowered despite a chassis that was begging for more oomph. While tuners have been swapping larger engines from the top-of-the-line 911 into the Cayman, its doubtful that Porsche's pencil pushers would risk cannibalizing sales of its 40-year old flagship. However, the idea of making an RS-version of the Cayman may be on the horizon, as this newest spy shot reveals. The next generation Cayman – likely to be unveiled in Geneva – will feature a few minor changes keeping with Porsche's long-held tradition of slowly evolving the breed. But a lightweight, track-friendly edition might also be available in the near future. The shot above shows a new Cayman (note the drawn down headlamps) undergoing testing, with a roll cage mounted aft of the two front seats. Could it be a Club Sport version? Hopefully we'll find out in a few months. [Source: autoblog.it] |

| Re: Enter the Rumormill: Porsche Cayman Club Sport spied? Porsche really need to do something to spice up the level of interest in the Cayman. Sales haven't been great for this car, and I think a lot of people realise the Cayman is a cynical marketing exercise, despite the fact that the car itself is very good. Bring on the RS version, it should be awsome. |

| Re: Enter the Rumormill: Porsche Cayman Club Sport spied? And I don't get how a stripped down Cayman RS would eat into 911 sales even if it was faster than 911S. |

The pictures show a Cayman mule with a roll bar but the truth is that more or less all mules driven hard on tracks have roll cages in order to protect the test driver. Therefor I'm not sure this rumor holds any water. But a Cayman RS was rumored a year ago so there's still a possibility. I certainly want to see one because the Cayman is begging more power.

| Re: Enter the Rumormill: Porsche Cayman Club Sport spied? I even heard that Porsche manages to make a Cayman S turn faster than a Carrera around a track... But they did not want to affect the 911 of course... It is not the first time that the biggest competition for the 911 come from Porsche, when there was 911 vs 928 the 928 was obviouslu much faster, more comfortable, much everything... But the 911 is unique, because of the look. And true enthusiasts love it because it is not perfectly balanced, that makes it fabulous to drive for a real skilled driver. For the others you have the Carrera 4. I don't think the Cayman RS will see the daylight. Too dangerous. |

The Cayman is a bit different since it is mid engined. It has been caracterised to be perfectly balanced with very very high limits similar to the R8. That is the main reason why the Cayman has received to good reviews.
