The Cayman and the Cayman S

A new and Boxster®-based coupe joins the Porsche sports car lineup for 2006, and while this vehicle shares much with the acclaimed roadster, its unique characteristics and exceptional dynamic capabilities earn it the right to its own name — the Cayman S.

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

The Cayman S is going to take the compact sports car market by storm I reckon. It's simply to special and too focused to be dismissed as a poor sibling to the 911. Hardly. This car is utterly unique.

Where else do you go if you want compact short-wheel base agility, light weight, great power-to-weight, low low centre of gravity and amazing weight distribution - the latter two afforded by a unique mid-engined boxer layout - all fused together in a compact coupé displaying all the torsional benefits of a hard-top? Nowhere. Period.

Now that's my opinion only so instead why don't I share some utterly gobsmacking pics of the Cayman S instead:

(Oh Lord please please may I have one of these one day )

Look at this one and notice the beautiful brushed aluminium bumper skirting and headlight surrounds:

That colour is just stupendous - and I'm not one for blue cars...

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

When I first read about the cayman I thought that it'll be a poor mans 911 but after reading about the specs it is clear that this car stands on it's own legs. The blue colour is awsome and the silver lips adds a sporty touch to the car.

I'm only saying one thing more. Bring us a CAYMAN TURBO!!!!!

I wish. Sadly I don't think that's a possibility Luwalira. Being mid-mounted in such tight confines, I feel that there's simply not enough space in the engine bay for turbo's and associated intercooling and plumbing. I have been proven wrong before though...

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

Oh damn Martin, why do you have to crush my dream with your logical assumptions . Hopefully tuners will do some tweeks here and there so that the car will push atleast 350hp. Still a Cayman turbo would mess up the hirarcy in the Porsche line up. I don't think that 911 Carrera S owners wouldn't like to be beaten on the autobahn by a Cayman.

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

Tuners will easily bring an extra 100 hp -200hp. Without any mechanical work, probably just computer programming and such.

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

I wouldn't agree with you another 200bhp could be chucked in just with computer programming! That may be the case if you don't want the car to be reliable!

It's only a 3.4 litre engine, I would say something like 380-400bhp would be max from this engine!

Re: The Cayman and the Cayman S

Reliabiity is not an issue, reprogramming computer does not set off any red lights, car would be fully warrantied, secondly there are Porsches out there with rediculous mods, and no problems.... go to track day and you will see, or just ask those who know....
