***Wiesmühl East German Car Show*** There was an East German car show near me a few days ago. Most of the cars were Trabants but there were also some Wartburg's and Barkas B1000 vans. Enjoy the pictures. Trabant fans, eat your heart out! ![]() The first Trabant here is the original Trabant from 1957, the P70. The owner even had the original East German car registration papers posted on the rear passenger side window! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the early 1990s Trabant with the VW 1.1 engine. ![]() Customized Trabant. The owner made it even uglier with all those external applications. The convertible aspect is creative though. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Piss yellow, I assume! ![]() ![]() ![]() Barkas B1000 van with a 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine. ![]() Trabant 601 with a "Trabant trailer". Pretty neat! ![]() ![]() More Trabants... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wartburg 311 from the mid 1960s with a 1-liter engine. Check out the sparesely covered but large trunk! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LOL! The writing on the rear window says: "YOU'VE JUST BEEN OVERTAKEN BY 26-HORSEPOWER!" ![]() ![]() Another 601 estate. ![]() ![]() According to one of the Trabant enthusiasts at the show, this was a special Trabant version made exclusively for the East German border guard service. No doors made it excellent for hoping out to shoot people trying to cross to the West! Ok, that wasn't funny! ![]() ![]() ![]() Intel Inside? Guess again! "2-STROKE INSIDE"! ![]() ![]() Wartburg 1.3 ![]() ![]() ![]() Lastly, the NICEST car at the show!!! Mercedes 250SL with the rare manual transmission (even back then most people still opted for the automatic). ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope you liked the pictures!

Re: ***Wiesmühl East German Car Show*** Great pictures Christian. Here's a Finnish ad for a Trabant from 1960: ![]() They didn't sell too many, despite being "positively surprising in all aspects" and a price of only FIM 397,000 (apparently €7,860 in today's money). ![]()

Re: ***Wiesmühl East German Car Show*** Nice pics, the SL is gorgeous, looks mint as well. Where's the gear lever for the red Trabant (border guard issue), It's not that 'L' shaped bar next to the steering wheel is it? Thanks Christian
