Indeed it is Rob, indeed it is.

Over at dpreview I read some Canon fans were disappointed and they remarked that this is what they expected from Canon. I don't know what they are mad about. This is a very powerful camera and truly has to be the most desirable in the world.

That camera will smoke a dodge viper in a split second.

I am beginning to wonder who the hell needs 10 frames per second. I have 5, and I think that is more than enough. Anything lower than that can be costly when you are dealing with race cars and airplanes.

I truly hope that the Nikon camp is paying attention. Nikon makes great bodies, but this is truly something that, at this moment, Nikon cannot compete(no Nikon body can compete with this). This is a monster and if the next D3X, D200, etc. do not incorporate some sort of new technology, I will be really disappointed.

Today is a not only a great day for Canon but also for Nikon. As another member on dpreview said, it is a great day for the photography community.

Maybe they wanted 20MPs or something -- well I think it is a great camera ...but really, all that technology doesn't actually mean you get better pictures -- I would still prefer a Leica M8 personally.

I am sure you would. I have great respect for the basic cameras. Today I went to the airport to go spotting. I was lucky enough to see a lot of the original spotters that still go there. They all, for the most part, are still with film and they have the F100 with them. I am running around with my digital D200 as a young guy which has obviously embraced the technological world. I can shoot so many pictures and delete. They just sit there and wait for the right one.

Here are some sample pictures of the Canon EOS 1D Mark III: - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

The Leica M8 isn't so basic (apart from its manual focusing)....but it is a lot more basic than an EOS.

But I wouldn't mind one of these Canons as well

It is amazing to think that photography has gotten so advanced. I guess that is why I mention the simplicity and why it should be respected. The days that you had to manually focus and be careful what film speed you used are pretty much getting close to ending. Although, like mentioned above, there are still some that use film, the digital sector is only getting more and more customers.

This new Canon is very nice. I must say though that it is quite interesting to see them go down to a 10mp sensor instead of upping from the 16mp. I understand that they can't get the FPS that fast yet, so that may be why they went down. Not sure if anyone is more technically than me to explain if there are any upgrades that I may not be aware of that would make the 10mp sensor a better type of sensor when considering the current Mark II which is 16mp. Either way, 10mp should be sufficient. Nikon has the D2Hs which does about 8fps at 4mp. Seeing this do 10fps at 10mp is just.....
