Re: W204 C230

I thought MB got rid of the 230 in favor of 300? At least that's the case for the United States.

Re: W204 C230

I don't there will be another 230 model, well at least until sales cool off. By then all the V6s should have direct-injection so the 230 won't be so slow.

Re: W204 C230

Hi Budo,

As far as I know, the C230 won't be available for America, but I don't think there is a word yet on that the status will be for Canada. It could be that Canada might still receive them - and if not, then the C300 isn't a bad deal at all. Check out the Canadian review on the C300.

Re: W204 C230

Thanks so much everyone!

Originally I planned to buy a C230 last year Christmas time, but was told by the sales that the new C will be arrived soon, and expected new C230 as well....

I'm currently driving a C coupe 1.8L, very good engine, smooth and takes less gas (1 full tank can drive 680km). Since the gas price increased so much, just would like to consult u guys opinion.

2 engines: C230 Vs C280 (2.5L Vs 3.0L), how much more gas C280 would takes compare C230 (let say both using 7-tronic)? And compare the design and build, which engine is better?

Appreciate for all your suggestion and opinion. Thanks!

According to - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, the C230 and C280 consume the following (both with A/T transmission).

C230
Urban: 13.1-13.3 L / 100 km
Rural: 6.8-7.0 L / 100 km
Total: 9.1-9.3 L / 100 km

C280
Urban: 13.3-13.5 L / 100 km
Rural: 6.9-7.1 L / 100 km
Total: 9.2-9.4 L / 100 km

As you can see, the fuel economy of both models is virtually identical. I'd probably go for the C280. Extra power and literally the same fuel eocnomy.

If you really want good gas mileage in the C-Class, maybe you should wait for the C220 CDI Bluetec diesel.

<< thought MB got rid of the 230 in favor of 300? At least that's the case for the United States.>>

The C300's predecessor was the C280 in the US. Same engine and trans. No more four cylinder engines here. Thank God.

Re: W204 C230

Yeah only Audi pedals 4-cylinders in a German luxury car in the U.S. They might want to think about getting rid of it, though it is is a good engine. A V6 just seems more correct for a luxury brand.

But the 2.0TFSI and 1.8T are the crown jewel engines of Audi's cars. A shame if they didn't offer those...

Well back OT.

Re: W204 C230

Maybe in other countries, but I doubt if anyone would miss them that much in the U.S. A small V6 with all of their lastest tricks would be better for the image IMO. Let VW have 4's. This would be a great step towards distancing Audi from VW, again particularly in the U.S. market. Painful, but needed IMO.

One thing I get tired of hearing from the clueless is how they're the same car because of the engine! Interestingly enough Audi is stuck with a pretty anemic V6 (A6, TT etc.) here while VW has a really good one for the Passat.
