| C-Class launch in Singapore The crowd was amazingly huge and finding our way around isn't unlike finding our away through the streets of Bangkok. It's seriously overflowing with people, and as a result I couldn't take good pictures. Please bear with me. ![]() ![]() All the C-Classes hidden under wraps, waiting to be revealed... Impressions of the C: Interior quality - I am very impressed. It feels very good, the plastics are all soft, and the ambience is very inviting. I like how even the most basic of COMAND is pretty sweet. The knobs are metal-encased and they feel very tactile and precise. I also like the bringing back of the good ol' stuff like the metal MB star on top of the gear knob. The leather feels good and instantly you feel at home when you enter the car. The doors have stitched leather, even in the lowest trim of cars. Two-tone interiors are best appreciated in real life - it really is quite stunning. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and IMO, the interior is better quality than the one in the 3er. Looks - It looks very dynamic, possible an even sportier design than the 3er. The Avantgarde front star may look a little too big in person but in the name of sportiness it does it job well of carrying out the presence of the car. The paintwork seems immaculate but there are some minute bumps that can be seen under direct light. Rear is best seen with the lights on. Without it, it does look a little awkward but the car as a whole works very well. Here, it met my expectations. Overall, I came out impressed. Firstly, these two cars are difficult to compare. One coupé, one small sedan. I'm a young guy, I don't need the extra two seats, so I find the A5 more suited to me. But I don't see myself awkward in a C-Class either - it has really found its youthful appeal that was lacking in previous benzes. I am however one for the "alternative" side and the C-Class just doesn't suit me - it will be very common on our roads in the future, believe me. The C350 is going for an attractive price, head on with a 330i. Mercedes has done its pricing well this time. They usually outprice Beemers by a large margin, but this time its comparable. I feel that at about 220k you really do open yourself to A LOT of options. If you look around for cars at that price range you are seriously spoilt for choice. But if you need a small sedan, look no further. The BMW, although good, is getting old; the A4 is due for replacement really soon. The Alfa 159 is amazingly good looking but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're inclined for Italians. They are good to look at and good to drive but brace yourself for problems (even though they come less often now). The A5 is huge, the S5 is priced competitively with the 335i at 250k. Quality is better than the C-Class IMO, but then again its in a class above. I don't know what else to say unless you tell me more of your requirements and needs. What car are you looking for, a 2 door or a 4 door? What car are you driving now? If you tell me these maybe I can help you more. ![]() | |

| Re: C-Class launch in Singapore I'm glad you liked it and my reflections were just like yours when I first saw it. MB did a really good job and exceeded the expectations. Let's see if the new Audi A4 can match the interior quality of the new C-Class. Some journalists have been a bit disappointed with the interior quality of the A5, saying that it isn't 100% up to Audi standards. BTW it's nice to see some real life pictures of a C with beige interior. All most all the demo cars we have seen posted here have had black interior. |

But yes, the question is whether they will transplant the longer lasting (but cheaper feeling) plastic buttons of the A5 over to the A4. I hope not. Beige interior with black two-tone works amazingly well for the C.

| Re: C-Class launch in Singapore Nice pictures - The C-Class with beige interior looks great. I think this is the best interior combination I've seen. The GT3 looks great and this SLK 55 is just amazing. It looks like you have a lot of "launches" at the moment in Singapore! Thanks for sharing all your experiences. |

| Re: C-Class launch in Singapore I love this color combination. I am also impressed with the attention to detail regarding the interior side of the rear and front doors. The design is simple, yet elegant. This picture proves this. ![]() |

BTW - I'm 1.75m, and I needed to bend down to slide into the rear! Definitely too small for me... ![]()
