Bugatti Italian born Ettore Bugatti produced his first car in 1899 at the age of 19. In 1909 he started his factory in Molsheim, Alsace. Bugattis were known for their advanced engineering in their premium road cars. The company's success culminated with driver Jean-Pierre Wimille winning the 24 hours of Le Mans twice (in 1937 with Robert Benoist and 1939 with Pierre Veyron). Volkswagen AG purchased the rights to produce cars under the Bugatti marque in 1998.

Preview: More on Bugatti’s topless Veyron ![]() Bugatti recently announced that it was lifting annual production of its Veyron hypercar from the current 60 units per year to 75, but there’s been no word on whether the full run of 300 cars will be changed. We now have news that Bugatti will be adding a topless Targa model to its lineup that will be produced in an ultra exclusive run of 80 cars, according to - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. As previewed in this rendering, the Veyron Targa won’t be a complete convertible but will instead sport a removable roof design similar to the topless versions of the Porsche Carrera GT or Koenigsegg CCX. The Veyron Targa will likely feature a detachable glass roof that has to be stored away from the car before driving, but if the weather turns nasty a fabric cover would be available that can be pulled into place. Without the roof the car will require added reinforcements and underbody changes to maintain torsional rigidity. These changes will come at a minor cost to performance, and top speed is said to be limited to 217mph (350kmh). - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Re: Preview: More on Bugatti’s topless Veyron I wonder where they will store the roof, front maybe? But that would mean manual removal, which doesn't seem too much like Bugatti. Automated roof would mean the roof would be stored above the engine, which would spoil cooling of the engine. I'd like to hear and see more.

Re: Preview: More on Bugatti’s topless Veyron This is the obvious next step for the car, I wonder how much more expensive it will be than the hard top! BTW, what's the fastest convertible car, would 217mph be fast enough to make the Veyron the fastest?

Re: Preview: More on Bugatti’s topless Veyron The Veyron is already a very heavy car. Can you imagine how even heavier this is going to be?

Re: Preview: More on Bugatti’s topless Veyron Update: Bugatti Veyron Targa! A topspeed of 400 km/h. The Bugatti Veyron can reach this excessive speed. A while ago we informed you about the production of the Veyron Spider. Now our source has given us some more info about the topless Bugatti. We are 100% sure that there will be a Spider/Targa. Bugatti has ordered 400 engines and it would be a waste of money to keep them in stock covered with dust. So this is a way to make some extra money instead of flushing it down the drain. ![]() More than 400 km/h with a convertible... who would ever thought that! According to our source that is not going to happen. The topspeed of this tarmac-eating monster will be limited at just 340 km/h. Not enough?.. Well when you've reached this speed you will definately have to visit a barber... There is only one minor problem. You can't take the Targa-panel with you when you want to drive open. The first open version of the Veyron has left the factory for testing. If you want to test this car, you have to own a normal Veyron. So it is quite expensive to drive this car. Next year the Veyron Spider/Targa will be on the public roads. If you want to have one, you are just too late. All the open Veyrons are sold already. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
