Yeah right! My @$$! Last few pages are complete disaster, not all the posts though, but majority. I'm out of this thread.

Well you can dream about Bangle's butt allday long but what I see more Maybach 2004, 1997 and 1939. Clearly 7-series didn't influence any car designers other than splitting coffee on their jackets when seeing it.

From 1997:

Re: 7er really has a nice butt... 7er pic thread..

Well now lookee here, a little tiff in a thread all about the 7er's backside. A thread that I've chosen to disregard until now. Has this degenerated into a wild fan-boy thread? Not yet, though some of the posts are a little insulting.

So, here's how we're going to play this out and the moderator gets to present his opinion.
There are some members on this forum (no names mentioned - work it out) who have such an immature and uninformed opinion that they're bound to rile people up. Ignore them.
There are other members who, whilst well informed, still cling to their beloved brands with tenacious sentimentality. Hear them out and respect their opinion but ultimately understand that they're merely wielding tools to vindicate personal bias for a given brand.
Finally, there are just a few, who actually couldn't give a crap whether it's a BMW or a Mercedes Benz that ends up the deemed better looking of the two. Rather, they pursue some form of objectivity without necessarily being aligned to a given car maker.
A commendable attitude but certainly the most difficult path to walk. These people are more interested in the in-depth analysis than whatever outcome may arise. Pay attention to these people because they represent the closest thing you'll get to automotive objectivity and will typically put forward the most balanced viewpoints.
Osnabrueck and (still awol) Bozzor are prime examples of such folk.

Of course there are other members who participated in this thread who also fall into the latter category but singling them out would lead to animosity for those left to decide which of the first two labels apply to them.

When all is said and done, when a thread of this nature is brought about, comparisons with direct rivals are inevitable and conflicting views will manifest.

So, my two cents worth on this discussion: the FL 7er is a cop-out and the S-Class has lost the true elegance of its W220 forebear. Hey, I'm not right but then again no-one is when it comes to car design.

The subjective nature of car design appreciation will invariably lead to heated discussion but that's no reason to lock this thread. This remains one of the most topical automotive debates in current times.

Just lay off the name calling, insults and don't provoke each other with stuff like "flies to sh!t" drivel.
