| Re: Holden launches New VE Commodore Sportwagon How is Holden positioned in the Australian car market? Who are the main competitors? I ask because I'm not very familiar with the manufacturer. |

| Re: Holden launches New VE Commodore Sportwagon Quote:
The cheapest car starts at around $14 000 AUD, and their most expensive car (excluding their performance division HSV) cost around $70 000 AUD. Holden rebadge various small to medium sized Daewoo hatchback and sedans and sell them as their lower price car range. Their best selling car is the Commodore, this is engineered and built in Australia for the locak conditions, and it is normally the best selling car on the market. The Commodore is rear wheel drive sedan/wagon/ute, with a similar size to the 5 series or an E-class. The basic price starts at $35 000 AUD and the top range, long wheel base model, called the Statesman and the Caprice cost around $70 000. For price comparison, a basic 5 series cost around $85 000 AUD and a basic E class cost around $90 000 AUD. The Commodore's main competitor is the Ford Falcon, which is engineered and built in Australia as well, with a similar size and price to the Commodore. The Camry is considered as a competitor, a basic Camry cost around $30 000 AUD but since it is a front wheel drive car, it isn't as popular as the other 2. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. | |
