Re: A5 cab discussion thread I Is there a point to have an A4 and an A5 cab?... both are 3er competitors!

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I This does seem to be the trend ...and I think BMW have been the ones to start it among the German companies. Rather than just offer other body-types of the same vehicle (like in the past), each model gets it own identity -- like the BMW convertible has a distinctive character ..it's not just a Coupé with its roof chopped off -- same with the VW Eos ..and the new S class convertible will also have its own distinctive character (as in the ODC). I would suspect that maybe the convertible version of the A5 will also have some distinctive styling, different from the coupé, to give it a unique character.

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I I really wouldn't expect that much differentiation between the A5 coupe and convertible. If you want to get a better idea of what I have in mind take a look at the MK2 TT coupe and convertible, there are only subtle differences noted around the rear that exist only to make up for the lack of a fixed roof.

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I Yes ...I guess Audi is still very conservative compared to BMW and Mercedes. Still, the chop above looks excellent.

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I That conservatism will work to their advantage in the long run when we're looking back on these cars and how they've aged.

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I Well you know that's what I have been saying for ages -- the new Mercs look nice now -- but I'm already bored with the S class. The A8 still looks fresh and modern to me, its subtle and refined design will age very well.

Re: A5 cab discussion thread I You know... I've found myself to be quite board w/ the design of the W221 as well. I saw one this morning as I was getting into my car heading out for the day... nothing too remarkable about it other than the wheels. All the exaggerated shapes will wear quickly, especially those huge wheel flares. I think Audi's (the new crop) will end up looking much like Italian classic exotics today, tomorrow.
