| Re: Audi A3 Cabrio confirmed for production. Why 'of course' a softtop??? I know the BMW 2er cabrio will have a softtop, but BMW is moving towards coupe/cabrio type cars, like the new 3er CC (and the new 6er for sure too). Audi A5 cabrio will have a softtop too, very strange. |

Audis´ head of design, Walter da Silva as well as (former) CEO Dr. Martin Winterkorn have both recently stated that Audi convertibles will be fitted with traditional fabric tops only. They maintain that a fabric top expressively exudes an aura of high quality, distinction and timeless style. And, folding hardtop CC configurations are becoming quite ubiquitous (VW Eos, E93 BMW 3-series convertible, all Peugeot droptops, Nissan Micra, Renault Megane, new Chrysler Sebring, MB SLK and SL, etc, etc, ad nauseam...). |
