Audi RS3 is Go Go Go!

This will be one screamer, but no one is sure what is under the bonnet. Guesswork is either a detuned 4.2L V8 from the RS4 (might be too heavy) or maybe the R32s engine reworked to around 350 hp - I'd prefer the latter if there was a decent weight saving.

Looks mean. The hot hatch genre is going to be redefined...

Btw, does anyone know if they will be using the 3.6L v6 here? Also, will they be using some new version of quattro?

Re: Audi RS3 is Go Go Go!

A V8 would definitely set it apart from the competition but the weight would be an issue. Nevertheless, it'll be one really, really hot hatch.

Re: Audi RS3 is Go Go Go!

90% sure Just_me: it's in pretty advanced development.

My preference would be for a naturally aspirated V6 3.6L, about 350 hp. But maybe the 3.2 L V6 with twin turbos, lightly boosted...which means various trick chips to push the power out to embarass an RS4.

This RS3 will be a killer. It will show what a civilized hot hatch shoudl be like. A great car to cruise around all day in, take the kids and shopping, easy to park, but capable of giving a 911 a run for its money.

Re: Audi RS3 is Go Go Go!

So far we know that Golf R36 will use the new 3.6 lt engine found in Passat with output 280-300 hp so my guess is RS3 (if produced) will have the same engine.

Re: Audi RS3 is Go Go Go!

I would imagine they would tune it to around the 100 hp/l mark. Probably around 370 Nm of torque also if they get the mapping right.

According to my sources RS3 may be too expensive to make with two turbos or a high reviing VR6 so don't set your hopes too high. We may end up with a 300 hp engine.

Yea but the price shouldn't be too high when compared to the competition. Who will be willing to buy a RS3 that costs (for example) as much as a Cayman? The cost of the final product always is considered during development. You know those things better than me.
